Gun Safe for Center Console (2020 Heritage Edition)

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone figured out a handgun safe solution for a 2020 heritage edition land cruiser? The heritage editions have the cool box removed by default.

I am seeing some options for boxes with a cable that is meant to be attached to seats, but I was hoping for a cleaner solution, where a gun safe is bolted into the center console if that was possible.

Sorry off topic. I did like the idea of a gun safe inside but I am personally against leaving firearms inside a car. Too many things can go wrong. Thieves…and then having to explain to cops why your stolen car has a gun in it. Child left unattended. Slow to draw. Forget to take gun with you when stepping out.

You wear the belly band? I thought about one of those but just can’t pull the trigger on one because of the dang summer humidity in TN. I have a stealthgear holster that is pretty good when I carry but rarely use it because I am almost always wearing gym clothes…no belts.

Its chit chat but it is pertinent to 200 mounting. I wouldn't doubt we all carry the same 3-4 pistols anyway.

I'm not big on gun mounts. I'd rather have it on my person than mounted in my car. I know some people like the magnet mount on kick panel (issue w leg room for me) or molle panel on console, but I prefer to keep it on me.

I don't want it visible (I could see this making a trigger happy cop nervous) and don't want a potential attacker to know what I have. Plus I don't want to remove it every time I exit the car.

I could maybe go for a mount on a long road trip for comfort, but would want the molle panel so I can transfer the holster from molle to waist when getting gas, etc.

Yup, its sure to be alot of springfields, glocks, and Sigs lol. We should all be able to use very similar mounts.

This guy is the candidate for me to mount on the leg rest. Going to get retired from the nightstand and lose the laser light.
Loaded with 16 hornady critical defense rounds. I was going to do a red dot on / have it milled but its getting cumbersome.

Yeah i agree on those points too. Doesn't help to look like a fat Osama in the south either.
Its just that like getting in there at that angle and losing all surrounding visibility for the reach is not inspiring confidence.
I would IWB carry but in a sitting position like that i would probably fumble it. And my stomach is going to protrude.
Im 6ft on a good day so leg space isnt a huge deal but stretching up to pull from waistband would still be awkward.

In any case, if you did want to carry on person then leg may be best, but in my climate im usually wearing shorts.

Most people that want one don’t want it to just leave a sidearm there all the time, it’s temporary storage for when you aren’t able to carry at a specific location.

Temp storage...sure...isn't that what the locked glovebox is for? And I bet 9/10 times, the owner will leave the gun in the safe when he gets home from work.

But yeah, I can see specific uses...I do apologize for being such a Debbie Downer...but as gun owners, we really don't need more bad press...such as from irresponsible gun handling.

For example, my best friend loves to put his gun in the center console when he gets in. What did he do?! He left it in the center console of his RENTAL car and forgot all about it! Fortunately, the rental car company found the gun and he got it back. I freaking yelled at him for being so damn stupid!

A locked glovebox doesn’t meet my needs in terms of security. The new tundra can be ordered with a console safe. I wonder how close the dimensions are.
