Ahoy!
Well...I'm on my 5th Cruiser! My pops bought a 1989 FJ62 in 1990 and drove it straight to pick me up from kindergarten, first car I ever remember riding in. I recall, with great clarity, my dad purchased new tires for it and an older gentleman with his grandson pointed at my dad's truck and said, "See that truck right there...that's the best truck ever made". I was 9 years old. When I turned 16, I saved up a bought a 1984 FJ60. It had a broken cam shaft, and I got it for $2,500.00. I worked all summer and rebuilt the motor then I drove it for 13 years. I sold it and my dad's truck, and it was a decision i will live with for a long time. After that i ran the gambit of Toyota truck's - had a 13' 4Runner TE then a 17' Tundra (first new truck). My wife and I had our first child and then a few years later my second, i wanted to raise my kiddos in a Cruiser so when i saw the opportunity to buy 16' certified 200 series i jumped on it. It was dead middle of covid and i got a pretty good price on it, it had an ARB bumper on it already and i was in love. I was not however pumped with a car note, so i drove it for 4 years and did a mild build on it then passed it on to its new home- it will be missed. I purchased an 83' BJ60 for a short stint from a very nice guy in Houston, but due to rust and zero garage space i parted ways with it...was fun to own a diesel cruiser though!
Fast forward to now - I needed to fill my cruiser void quickly and I have always wanted a 100 series since high school, IMO it is one of the best-looking trucks ever. I went on ih8 marketplace and located my current truck; it was in TN and i live in TX...so i flew out, picked it up at 10pm and drove 14 hours home (i don't recommend this) and took my girls to school the next day in it. The truck has some quirks and some maintenance i need to work out- and will try and catalog here as best i can...but i love it. I'll never get sell her.
Love the cruiser community.
Ill grab some more photos when i get a chance, just wanted to introduce myself...finally after many years on this great forum.
*Apologies for the poor grammar.
