Thanks Rick , I'll head out before work and look for it at my Radio Shack .

I decided to post this up , hoping the newer guys might see it and check out their switches as well . Saw a bunch with similar complaints as I've had for some time with regards to slow windows . Someone on another thread reminded us of the dirty switch .

Ok .. I pulled it apart further , and took it into the washroom vanity to clean it . (condo .. no work bench yet)

**Note to self .. close the drain BEFORE working on things laden with teenie springs etc !

So after watching a spring merrily spiral down the drain , I proceeded to clean the black gunk off the contacts . I reassmble and walk down to the garage .. proud as a peacock . :D

Reattach ... and VOILA !

Ummm .. I said .. V O I L A ! ! !

Mmmm , apparently my 80 hasn't received the "if he pampers any portion of you .. return his kindness with IMPROVED :censor: performance !"

I got the impression that perhaps portins of my door skins were squeezing the window too tightly , so I drove off to a parking lot to fiddle with them .

Nothing ... Hmmmm , ok I thought , I'll try the silicone lube spray I have in the back .

So I sprayed the s***e out of the upper door tracks . Then I cleaned them out with a cloth .. and then liberally reapplied the lube spray .

VOILA ! Get this ...

While idling ... with the heater fan on full , I can NOW bring up BOTH front windows within 3 seconds ! For me that is not only unusual , but bloddy amazing . :D

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

2nd note to self .... Apply silicone spray to upper door tracks biweekly thru out the winter months !

TY

PS : I bet the contacts are making a big difference too .. they just needed to have clean tracks BEFORE their contribution could be seen .

Tyler,
by *upper door tracks* do you mean the felt weatherstripping visible?
or do you mean you pulled the door pannel off and sprayed the metal tracks on the inside of the door?

Chris , I was way out in a parking lot .. it was snowing so I just sprayed liberally into the lined track that flanks the glass when it is fully up .( though I sprayed while the window was fully down) I did not rip off the door skin etc and go into the guts . I did however spray for a while 'down' the track , knowing it would run down with gravity and window movement . I expect to have to reapply the silicone frequently during the winter ..... but so far , it's fairly improved .

TY
