Very nice looking racks. Questions - Could they be made from aluminum and could the upper section be made to slide in and out, much like a drawer?

Another question: how do they work with the airbags? Is this compliant with the Roll Sensing Curtain Airbags and the seat airbags?

I could make it out of aluminum but it would be expensive as it would need to be tig welded (which I don't have) and aluminum is more expensive usually. The box steel is not very heavy (see for sale post for weights) as it is 16G but boxed and fully welded for strength (gussets, etc).

On your question, do you mean the base rack sliding in and out (the flat platform)? The barrier comes out easily with 4 hand screw knobs. If you are talking about having the base platform roll in and out, that would be possible I am sure, but I would quote that as a custom system.

I have no idea how this or if this would effect the airbag system. The barrier is mounted behind the 2nd row seats. I have only built these so far for the 80 series, so this question I would have to table until I decide to build a proto for these series. If in fact these racks would effect any airbag system on the vehicle I would probably not make them. Can you post a pic of the airbag system you are reffering to?

thanks for the help, comments.

Noah,

I'm very interested in a system for my LC-200. When you get further into it, let me know.
