...I'll probably use velcro just in case I ever need to access the box.

Velcro sounds like a good idea. I just used some "Velcro Extreme" for something else and it seems like it would be strong enough.

go the 1700MJT last night, fit perfect with a 1" piece of plywood under it. No need to mess with the stock cables, they fit perfect.
