Do you mean the integration with the factory USB port? Yes, that should work. Also some vehicle USB ports are not working for some reason, so we cannot give 100% assurance.
However, the USB connection is always available via GROM VLine VL2 or VLite VT2 for wired CarPlay and Android Auto.
For 2013-2015 Toyota Land Cruiser you will need LEX78T model of VLine VL2 system:
yea, I already have it installed/working - just curious about the factory USB port option. going to give it a try 👍

Glad to hear that! Thank you for the update!

does anyone else who’s upgraded to A12 have a problem where about 50% of the time when the start the truck CarPlay starts quickly but then the screen is frozen and touchscreen is unresponsive? If music auto starts that works as normal.

I’m not sure if this started after an update (I’ve done 2 since the initial A12 upgrade). But it’s consistent. I’ve found the quickest way to recover is disconnect CarPlay on the iPhone until the screen goes back to Grom launcher, then reconnect CarPlay (there is a slider under “CarPlay settings to do this for the Vline2). It always connects right back up and works normally.

Yes, it’s happened to me a couple times.

4 or 5 maybe. I wouldn’t say frequent

I did the same fix as you

Installed the Grom a few days ago. For the most part, it works well. Just a few issues that I noticed especially when you start up and the auto AC takes a bit to start blowing. Haven’t quite figured out what is going on there. It also starts my temperature at 75 degrees every time. Maybe in the winter this won’t be such an issue, but it was 94 today and I was about to go nuts waiting on the AC to start blowing.

Might check and make sure you didn’t leave something disconnected. It sounds like your HvAC system is losing memory and “rebooting” at every start up. Others have complained about this before too. I don’t know what the root is, but definitely is a semi-common failure mode.

I would also make sure you’re running the latest firmware before getting too concerned 👍🏻

I’ve had mine reset the 75° a couple times but I think that was an older firmware

Since this has now happened 5-6x i feel its worth a post.

My steering wheel controls to skip songs, and touch screen stop working occasionally.

Unplug and reboot Grom, and all is well.

Another annoying glitch, that has me considering better options.

Hi all,
We recently installed the GROM VLine VL2 system for CarPlay Android Auto integration into the factory car stereo of Toyota Land Cruiser 2010-2012. Here is step-by-step install video:

We show how to connect the system to the back of the stereo and display and how to route the cables to the glove compartment to secure the unit there. CarPlay and Android Auto fully integrate with the stereo's touchscreen, buttons, and controls. Here is the demo video:

Two systems are compatible with the Toyota Land Cruiser 2010-2012 for CarPlay and Android Auto integration:

GROM VLine VL2 (LEX6VL2 model) - https://gromaudio.com/store/vline/grom-vl2-lex6.html
GROM VLite VT2 (LEX6VT2 model) - Select Lexus 2010-2012 GROM VLite VT2 Integration System for CarPlay® Android Auto® - https://gromaudio.com/store/vlite/grom-vt2-lex6.html

Let us know if you have any questions, and we will be happy to help!

You can use CarPlay wired, if you prefer to. You can also connect the factory USB ports (also not all will allow you to) using the USB retention cable here: https://gromaudio.com/store/vline_accessories/cable-c-vtoyusb.html
Most important when using the wired CarPlay and USB retention is:
1. Keep the total length of the USB cables extension as short as possible.
2. Use high quality iPhone USB cable.
Hello.

Unfortunately, I was a victim of buying this product GROM VLINE LEX4, which is bad for me. I bought it from the company's official website and they gave me my car's full specifications with its VIN number so that they could send something compatible with it.

Upon arrival, the device was installed after several months because I was confident in this product according to the company's advertisements and promotions.
The surprise is that when the installation was completed and when it was turned on, it did not work on my 2007 Lexus LX470.
I contacted the company's technical support team, but unfortunately no one responded to me. Knowing that this team is the most important team for customers.
I am very upset for two reasons: first, this product received incorrect advertising, and second, the company does not care about after-sales service.

Standby…. They should be suggesting a “firmware update” any minute now (sarcasm)

I'm curious to hear how it goes, I see similar comments a lot on Facebook Grom group and the LX570/GX pages. It's common enough that every time there is a group buy I've hesitated because I'll see people with the same sentiment.

IMO, think it’s a decent (not perfect) option for 2013 to 2015 models… I just think the first gen 200 series head units have a hard time with the retrofit regardless of the manufacturer/vendor.

FWIW - GROM does have a phone number on their website and they will answer tech issues (despite what it says).

From my standpoint, if you’re going to do a bad job of answering Support emails in a timely fashion then you should have no problem taking a phone call. Last time I called they did help me and were pretty cool about it.

There is a newer harness which can now use the factory microphone rather than routing the s***ty grom provided microphone. Your carplay interactions and call will be much better if you use your factory microphone.
