is he drowning?

(there's sooo many un-PC things wrong with this picture, I kept it clean)

Many pool builders will skimp on rebars and will try to build with #3 (3/8" rebars) on 12" or 16" centers. I had my pool builder use #4 (1/2" rebar) on 8" centers on the pool and deck.
Charles

Looks like #4 rebar is all he uses and he does 8-10" centers depending on the amount of clay in the soil. I have a lot of clay so he is going to go with 8"

Wow. You think? I never thought of that.

BTW, I just sent GT out of here with a HOT Air Force nurse that is here overnight. She needed a ride back to the hotel. Flying out to Ramstein at 1600. You should go watch her load up Murrah.

Charles, my guy uses wet gunite and it is going in today

What plaster question should I be asking?

Nolen,

Wet gunite is good. Less chance of application error due to rebound and is stronger and more expensive than dry.

You have lots of time to decide before plaster. This is the last step in the pool build process.

I would go with some type of pebble plaster. They're more durable than regular white plaster. The little rocks (aggregate) makes the plaster stronger and will last 15 to 20 years. Regular plaster will last around 7-10 years. The cost difference between regular plaster and Pebble Tec/sheen should be around 3K. Having to re-plaster your pool in 7-10 years will be more than 3K.

Brand names are Pebble Tec and Pebble Sheen.
Pebble Tec is larger than Pebble Sheen. We went with Pebble sheen since it is smoother.

We went with the Black Onyx Pebble Sheen to make the pool look dark and like a lagoon.

Blue granite is a popular color and pretty "safe" from a color stand point. Ask the builder if you can go see other people's pools with the color you're interested in. The web site pics doesn't show the color very well.

Natural Pool Finishes with Enduring Superior Quality | Pebble Tec

Other options are: Diamond Brite or Durazzo.
Made with quartz and supposed to be strong and durable. This is a smooth finish and popular.

Ask your pool builder if the choice of plaster is an option. My pool builder quoted us a price and we got to pick the type of plaster and decking with no additional charge. Some pool builder will quote you a low price, but start charging $$$ for "options" like: plaster, decking, tile, etc.,

At least you moved your finger on this HD quality video...can't wait for the next CLC camping at the farm...I do a mean cannonball. Well, as mean as a 100lb cannonball can be...

My dad is the videographer. He's old. Cut him some slack :D

Charles, I asked about the pebbles. I can't swing the extra $4000. Gonna go with the slick finish. Pool guy says keep it clean all year and don't let it get green and the smooth will last as long as the pebble. Said harsh chemicals and direct sun will kill it. I hope to have neither.

Thanks for the advice though.

Your Dad...making your dad do your dirty work...while you surf ih8mud.com...you should be ashamed!

wngrog, any chance you can hold him up a couple days? I have a couple of my daughter's ex boyfriends that I need to... uhm... reposition, and the deep end of that hole, under about 22,000 gallons, would be just about right. Whaddaya think?
