From time to time I can hear a grinding noise coming from the left hand side of my new 18 LC (< 600 miles) when I brake in low speed. Is this something I should be concerned about?

---UPDATE

In case anyone is interested in hearing what that sound is, here is a dropbox link to a video [Dropbox - File Dec 04, 7 07 06 PM.mov] that I recorded today before visiting the dealership.

I was told that the sound comes from the ABS system and is normal, the technician said 4runner may have a even louder sound.

---UPDATE again

It seems like this is a common issue with trucks manufactured by Toyota:

Yes.

is this a common issue with lc200?

No.

I can keep this up all night ...

You have a brand new truck. It's making a noise you don't like. It's under warranty. Take it to your dealer and let them sort it out.

well, you know I need to save money for gas since the fuel economy of this LC is so poor :-)

That’s not normal. Take it to the dealer to have them fix the problem.

Grinding noise in any year LC isn’t normal. It’s still new, bring it back and have it checked out. Probably a caliper or heat shield issue.

Saw the video. They all make that noise when you hit the brake pedal. Almost like fluid passing though a cylinder of sorts. Had a brand new 4runner that did it even worse and My new LC has it but a bit quieter. No worries.

My 08 doesn’t do that.

Thanks, good to know this is not a problem!

Nor does my '18, 8k miles

Get a second look at it

It's barely noticeable when you turn on radio or music, the technician mentioned some people won't even notice that sound. I placed my phone next to the brake pedal so it may sound a bit more severe.

Sounds kinda like the electronic brakes or booster or something like that. These modern trucks have so much going on. But I do not think it should be that loud on a brand new one. I do not notice that noise on mine, which is also an 18.
