Hi all. I have a 1987 HJ60 with a blue exterior. I always thought the interior was grey, but it's actually a blue-grey. Was there ever a grey-grey interior, without the blue tones? Or is this blue-grey considered a grey interior by 60 series standards?

I've done a lot of searching, but haven't found a definitive answer.....

Lots of people call it blue-gray(grey). Lots call it gray. I've always thought it more gray, but can see where someone might see a bluish tint. My truck is charcoal gray so it all looks gray to me, maybe your truck being blue brings out the bluish tint to the interior. (?)

I've sourced numerous different used door panels and seats and fabric....all are the same shade of "gray".

I don't think there were different shades of this interior color offered.
In the eye of the beholder......perhaps.

Thanks for the response. Yes it really does seem different under different lights. The reason I was asking is I'd like to put this grey interior into a red truck, but would hate to realize later that I actually put a blue interior into a red truck. I'll have to mount up a door panel or 2 to see how much the blue comes through when on the red vehicle. I would have done that already but I don't have the truck yet...

Just noticed yours is a hj60, mine is a US fj62. The late 60 series and 62's shared the same interior patterns. Started the transition in '87.

I sourced my used stuff from both 62's and '87 60's....all the same color.
Just to overclarify all that :hillbilly:

I do like the brown (which is what is in the truck right now, it's a 1984). But I also have the HJ with the grey which is in decent shape (minus the carpet, but both the brown and grey carpets are ripe for replacement). So, with a choice between red on grey, or red on brown - I'd be leaning toward the grey.....

To clarify here, I just purchased a red 1984 FJ, which is going to receive the drivetrain from the rusted-out blue HJ. One day.

BTW, @CaptClose your truck is gorgeous. I've seen you post a few pictures of it in the past. Very nice. I love an all-stock, or at least all-stock looking truck.

I think the term "blue-grey" is a holdover from the earlier small stripe pattern similar to @CaptClose's pattern, which actually does have blue in it. To me, the later pattern just looks grey.

My grey interior seems to have a grey-blue look to it as well.

But my OEM door fabric is a little different then yours, mine's an '85 HJ60.

My current seats have some aftermarket grey vinyl covers on them. They don't look to bad and match everything very well, but I have OEM seat covers (the same pattern as door fabric) that I am restoring and will install when they are finished.

Thanks George... although, the photo I posted here happened to be during a breakdown on the side of the interstate haha.

Here is a comparison.
