Here is minor dead trivia that involves my family. Jerry Garcia first wife (married in 1963 and only lasted a year or two. Her name is Sara ruppenthal. I am tom ruppenthal and she is a second cousin. I never met her but they had a daughter named Heather who is a violinist. The only recordings of her and her dad that know of is a rare cd called the common chord. Bluegrass stuff mainly David Grisham mandolin. Jerry guitar and banjo.

Interesting. I've read about Sara and their daughter, Heather. It seems Jerry had a rather convoluted history of relationships, back in and back out; not real hung up on society's expectations in this regard or many others. I met one of his daughters, Annabelle, one night outside of Kaiser Auditorium in Oakland. She got me and a few friends tickets for the show, which was very much appreciated.

Sorry to be hijacking this thread with Dead trivia and personal stories. I'll end it here. Over and out.

I'm also guilty of the hijack but I think anyone buying steal your face shift balls enjoys the stories. An Internet search will yield a picture of jerry and Sara together on stage and poor quality recordings of them singing. Thanks annabelle!

Grateful Dead threads never stay totally on topic, def b/c we who like them - like music that "wanders", maybe that's part reason??

Anyhow, I like Jerry / GD stories myself - adds to the whole GD enjoy I think.

I agree. Just wasn't sure this is the place; there's some pretty tuff n' puff thread police out there. (Especially if somebody starts a thread by asking a question that's already been answered in some form. Look out.) But it's all about improvisational wanderings, that's what I love. Without quirky stories and quirky weird diverse fans, the curiosity wouldn't be there. When I got into the scene it was as much about bizarre stories as it was the music, a heady combo.

Update - these are still on track for next week delivery to me - then, I'll begin to ship them out. -Mark

Shipping these out to ya'll in the am!

As promised, here is where Bob Weir holed up with John Barlow at Barlow's ranch in Wyoming winter of 71/72 writing songs. X (cross) Bar Ranch. Cora, Wyoming, next to the fabulous Wind River Mountains outside of Pinedale, WY.

Would like to order one if they are still available.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing. I've often wondered what Barlow's ranch house looks like. Those two guys wrote some amazing songs together in those days. What are the odds they would accomplish those around the same time Hunter and Garcia were also going off the hook?! The Creativity Gods were very generous to the Grateful Dead. It must have been the roses. Or perhaps Owsley's kool-aid.

I need the adapter for an 80 series T case shifter if that works..
