Pity most of his pics are in a flash program, because they're useful.

No problem, I just shrunk my active window to fit around the flash window and did screenshots - 123 of them.

Some of his links went to other interesting sites, and one of those sites had a goldmine of links to other trailer projects as well as an M416 project build:

Sad that stock height of the trailer is taller than stock height of his Heep.

Good info tho.

My trailer build

Okay guys, glad you like the trailer build. I did an axle swap on the trailer which explains the "Stock height being taller than my heep" and if you add any amount of gear, the trailer will settle down to a level ride. You pick up about 5 inches doing this, but the shocks end up at a really shallow angle. Time will tell if this becomes a problem.

Brian, if you need photos of some of the detail, just drop me a note and I can send you the Jpgs. Would be much faster than screen capturing off the flash version and you would get high quality full size images.

I got a lot of ideas off this website so thanks to all of you who posted your projects. Be sure to checkout the Henry C. project over on the Vegas Auto site. Both Pete at Vegas Auto and Henry C. have provided tons of question support.

Remeber boys and girls, it's not what you drive, it's where you drive it.

Just pokin' fun man with the Jeep thing bro, and it is a GREAT trailer build!

What do you think your total cost was after the purchase of your initial trailer?

Thanks!

Build Cost

Yeah, I know. The jeep guys give me crap too. I get even when I pass them going uphill towing a trailer. They get me back though at the pump.

I’d say that I’m into the trailer for about $1500 total. I have a few small receipts to add to the Trailer_cost page, but it should be pretty close. I still am having a hard time putting the old crusty brake cable back on, so I may part with another $50 for a new one.

I had a deal with a local powder coater so that is not reflected in the cost. He originally quoted me $300 to blast and powder so you can factor that in if you want. I spent more money on hardware than I ever expected. I bet I have $150 into replacing all the pieces with threads. Considering I picked up the trailer locally for $750, I guess it could be a whole lot worse.

I now just need the time to drag it to the DMV and get it licensed. That will be another $125, but then I can head for the mountains.
