Do I need to fill grease in the channel inside the TOB?

See where I am pointing in the picture.

Thanks

I would use white lithium grease. Or even something like Dow corning 3, silicone base lubricant. It should need lube even though its near the clutch/pressure plate

Yep, I grease that channel and a light coat on the transmission shaft. Don't over do it on the shaft due to the potential excessive grease getting onto the clutch. I just use regular old red high temp grease.

Thank you

Curious why put grease on a part that does't have anything touching it. Same with the spline on the input shaft from the transmission. Enough movement it not going rust to the disc. Never seen a clutch cause noticeable on the spline. Even if it did wear look at the tailshaft on the pre 8/80 four speed. Transfer case is full of gear oil and they wear. Throwout bearing is sealed. Only surface that would wear would be where it could have wear is the face the pressure plate fingers touch. Could put a little grease there but wouldn't last long. Inside of the pilot bearing opening could use a small amount of grease. Common for those to freeze to the imput shaft. The splines on the PTO winch drivelines should be greased. I had more than a few of those rust up where it runs thru the front frame.

No need to grease there. There's nothing moving or touching it. I suppose a light coat of grease could keep it from getting surface rust in a marine environment.
This is why I do it, I try to keep things from getting any pitting or surface rust. Maybe even dry graphite would do the trick.

And according to the FSM it should.
