TRYING NEW EMAIL ADDRESS: decals4everything@gmail.com

Hi Everyone,

I am trying a new email address so that I can use some of the gmail tools to help organize my orders. Of course you can always email my old address, but I am hoping that some of the tools (like the online spreadsheet) that google provides will keep things moving faster and allow me to keep history. Right now, when someone emails me and says, "I need one more of those, but twice as big", I struggle with Yahoo search and my folders to figure out what colors you ordered and what size in the past. I want to have great customer service so humor me and let's see how this new system works.

If you email me to my dspan@yahoo.com account, I will not ignore you ahahahahah and will answer you, but I might just CC: the new account I just made and see how that works. If you have any suggestions for how I could better organize the job, please email me. This hobby is still just a hobby but I might as well do it right. :)

Thanks again for all your time, suggestions and awesome decal orders. I am having a lot of fun and I hope helping people out.

Take care of yourselves,

Jay

Hey Jay..

Keep up the work. Maybe activate the forwarding feature on your Yahoo account to your Gmail. I don't have Yahoo, but most email accounts have this feature :)

Jay,

Looks like you're keeping super busy! Despite that I still have some questions/requests. :D

A) Can you do stickers with a white background? For example I ordered a few of the TEQ in red and they're great but I have some other applications where I'd like a white background with the red TEQ on white background so it stands out more. I'm sure there is a graphic arts term for it but I'm a dullard when it comes to artistic creativity.

B) Noticed those LC and Dakar stickers on the fridge. Ever thought of those business card size magnet type applications? I guess I could just slap one of those white background stickers on some magnet stock from the craft store and call it done so I can have some LC stickers to match my KTM stickers on my man-fridge in the garage; wife doesn't let me put stickers on it.

Keep up the good work.

Haha, staying pretty busy indeed but I will keep at it until this starts to feel like work. The only part I don't enjoy is trying to keep everyone's orders straight. I haven't screwed any up yet, but it is stressful. I process orders in the exact order in which the money lands in my paypal account. First in, first out, but 70% of my time is spent just discussing designs with people. I enjoy explaining all the options but my inbox is also filled with personal emails, loads of spam, receipts, paypal notices, IH8MUD notifications, etc. The address I have is 15 years old!!! With that comes 15 years of scammers filling my inbox with viagra ads and african princes trying to give me 18 billion dollars. Sometimes within minutes of receiving an email, it will already be on page two and my biggest fear is having something think I am just ignoring them. For the record I would never do that so if it seems that way, just ping me and ask me what is happening. I really think my new dedicated email address for decals will help a lot. I will keep my Yahoo address for personal stuff plus receipts and all that crap. One more thing to add is that Yahoo spam filters are terrible so I have to weed through all the spam every day and usually find 1 or 2 real emails in there. It doesn't catch real spam but throws you guys in the trash, wtf? Anyway...

Yes, I can absolutely do red on white, or anything on anything for that matter. There are two ways to do it. The first is an overlay where I will cut a white base and then throw a red layer directly on top. The base can be any size or shape. The type of vinyl I am working with is made to bond to itself so this technique works well and looks real clean. The second technique is an inlay or compound. That is when I cut the base and then cut the decal out of the base piece as well. In your case I would have a white base with all the white removed where the req teq is going to go, then I just carefully inlay the red. The second method is more difficult to do because one false move and you are throwing the base and inlay in the trash and starting over. If I was doing the install, I would simply do a wet install and do the inlay right on the destination surface instead of on the backing. I could do that here but then you guys would have to do the inlay and some people would get freaked out by that and if you have never done it, you will lose a few at first . :)

Which technique is better? Depends on the application or who you ask. I personally like overlay because it is more rugged but you do get a decal that is twice as thick. We are talking about micrometers here so it is not like you end up with a brick. I just did some ARB stickers for one of our brothers here who wanted a very specific size to fit inside a notch in his bumper. I must say, it looks awesome because it was literally made for the spot and really added a pro look. The overlay will also add a tiny bit more cushion to the decal should it encounter a rock or perhaps the rear end of a CJ7.

Ok, the fridge magnet idea is great. I actually had not thought of that but my fridge is a disaster at this point. It is a brand new fridge and looks like it was in an auto body shop for years. The vinyl will not hurt it but I need to pull all the stickers because it is completely full and that is my main proofing area. I need to just grab a piece of smoked plexi and start filling that up. I like to cut proofs of almost everything so I know when you guys get it at least it will install and look ok. Sign shops obviously never do this step because it wastes vinyl but I am not trying to maximize profit. I also find it gratifying to see the design come to life rather than just shipping a sticker.

As far as the magnet, yeah it is pretty easy to do. The wholesale sign supply place near me sells those magnets by the 24" roll. Since I have a "cash n carry" account (not enough volume), the pricing is not great but still about 30% less than the craft store. The reason I know this is because I have made a ton of those door magnets for vehicles. They allow people to slap a magnet on the door of their commercial vehicle that WILL NOT fall off and then you can park in loading zones or other commercial spots. Then that night when you want to take your wife out to a fancy dinner, pop off the magnet and your pimpin Tundra doesn't have a stupid looking "Joe's Painting" sign on the side.

Great install job, those look perfect. We have 4 new hybrid LC's at this point, including my FJ40. I kid you not, I parked in the "hybrid only" section at the Boston Convention Center yesterday while attending the boat show. 9 Prius, a couple Highlanders, some Honda Insights and a mustard yellow lifted FJ40 with 33 mudders. Got some very interesting looks but no ticket after being there for 6 hours . Hahahaha...

LMFAO man,i think i want a hybrid sticker for my 60 now.LOL

Just to let you know i think it's safe to say that we love your humor and work.keep it up,i'm still trying to come up with a Jeep Flippin sticker.

Great job man! Do you have any material close to a gun metal grey color? I would really like to get one of the Hybrid Stickers and a "IH8MUD exclusively LandCruisers"... Can you make the Ih8MUD sticker the right size to go on the Stock roll bar? I am off shore right now so I cant get the measurement on the roll bar but I'm sure someone can help out with that!

Thanks for posting the pictures, that was my first large attempt with a matte black and I was curious how it would look coming off the mask. Nice!

PM sent on 'exclusively land cruiser' sticker with no reply. What's the status of getting a set or two of these?

Sorry if I didn't get back to you, all the "exclusive" requests start to blend together. In short, I am not allowed to make them. If you get permission, I can make them really cheap.

Has the exclusively land cruiser been decided?

I don't think anyone is actively pursuing a new decision. If anyone knows the owner well, maybe they can convince him to allow a special one time production run of say 50 decals and when they are gone, they're gone? Can anyone take a shot at that?
