Anyone know if I can install a grab handle on the driver side like the one on the passenger side front? 2000 landcruiser. I know I will have to drill holes in the molding but I am wondering if the holes are threaded in the sheetmetal? Weird question but I think it would be comfortable to hang my arm there. See photos.

Would passenger side mouldings and grab handle from a right hand drive model be a match for our drivers side? Might be hard to get.
I would like one too.

What about removing a grab handle from the 3rd row and using it to mount up front? I removed both to install a custom interior cargo rack and I'd be happy to send one to you to test if you cover shipping. Pm if you're interested. If it works out I might just so the same!

I guess I'll have to pull the molding off to see if the mounting threads are there in the metal. Maybe someone that's had that molding off can chime in

Never pulled the molding but I'll bet a six pack the threads are there since the 100 was offered as a RHD. If you search you can find contacts for a guy the ships JDM parts to the US, he can probably hook you up with factory parts. Try a PM to spressomon he has the contact info for the JDM guy I can't find it in my email.

I had those panels off to install a tweeter in them and just had a look through my pictures to see if I had any of the metal behind them. Unfortunately I don't. Fortunately for you, it takes about 60s to remove the panel. Pull the caps off the forward grab handle, remove the two screws securing the forward grab handle, remove handle, then use panel or trim removal tool to remove the trim piece.

Start from the back and make your way forward, and beware this little plastic tab at the end, you'll need to lift up and out to avoid breaking the tab.

Looks like the headliner and trim pcs changed in '04 or sooner.

Digging this up from the grave. My wife is 5’1” on a good day and our truck has a little lift plus no running boards (waiting on sliders) and anything I can do to make the truck more appealing to her is a plus.

Am I the only one who installed this roof grab handle on drivers side? I used a roof grab handle on front passenger side off of a wracked cruser.

Under the hoodliner there is a hole and a nut for one bolt. I think for the 2nd bolt, I just used a nut attached to a metal reainer and slide it to the inner roof sheet metal and then bolted the other end of the grab handle. Will post a picture soon of my installation. It's been about 4 years since I install one and the pictures of my installation might be missing.

My new Taco got no grab handles on driver side, very annoying! Must come up with something for it too.

I happened to have my entire interior apart this past weekend while I did some repairs and sound deadening above the headliner. Here is a photo I grabbed of the driver side frame on my 2000 LC. It looks like there is slots where a handle could attach, but not captive nuts.

Here it is. Last is the elbow rest I made. My daughter made the padding for it. A phone holder is also mounted to this arm rest.

I’ve never paid that much attention, but my 2006 LX has a (folding) handle in that position, while our 99 LX470 and 00 TLC do not have a handle in that position.
