Does anyone have an affordable ideas for a GPS type tracker to hide in a restored 40 that will link back to your iPhone? I don't want to wire or do anything that's not stock and thought this may be an affordable idea. One mechanic suggested a child like tracker parents use. Any ideas or experiences would be much appreciated. Thanks, Eric

Check this one out...

Spot Trace™ Anti-Theft Tracker : Cabela's

On their website it goes for $119.00 but at Cabela's it is $69.00. Sounds like a great little unit!!

That one requires the purchase of a plan.

There's a lot of devices that will do this for you. Take your pick in Amazon: Amazon.com: Magnetic Small Dry Box GPS Tracker Holder - Strong Neodymium Rare Earth Magnet Mount Case for Tracking Device Doubles as Jewelry Key Locker Stash Box: Cell Phones & Accessories

or if you want to be able to keep records of movements or monitor more than one truck have a look at this one: GPS Tracker - Real-Time GPS Vehicle Tracking by Linxup

This stuff has become hot ticket for cars, babies, pets, guns, or anything that a little black box can be attached to. All it takes is a quick google search...

Depending on your cell carrier it might be cheapest to add a 2nd line to your account with shared data, buy the cheapest smartphone with the capability(or your previous phone if you saved it), and then hardwire the phone in a hidden place.

Your first link is for a waterproof box. It's not a smartbox, so I don't think it fits the profile.
Your second link: From the Linxup website: "No additional data plan required", yet there's a $22.99 a month subscription. I don't think there is one that is truly subscription free.

I like the idea of a cheap android hard wired in, then use the Google "find my phone" feature. With tracking on it will also show you everywhere it's been. For $10 a month for an addiditonal line on AT&T this seems like an affordable option.

I own a Spot. it just works.

Found a great one 19 bucks a mo no contract - Amcrest - fits in tiny water proof strong magnetic box - very easily hidden underneath body

A month -to-month billing is as a contract as far as I'm concerned. Or can you turn it on and off as needed, only paying for used time?

A contract is more like 3,6,12m term. This can be cancelled month to month.
