Ok, I finally got this mod finished. I've been wanting a GPS/laptop set for a while and I was patiently getting all the pieces together. I finally got everything hooked up. The GPS is a Garmin Vista, and I have Garmin Topo running on my Laptop. The laptop mount I got off ebay for about $60 shipped. Very basic, basically an acrylic table with pipe fittings which you can source from Home Depot....The laptop mount is actually quite sturdy, you can see on the link how I used a longer 8mm x 1.25 bolt much like another 80 series member did in his install (thanks bstain) but after a trial drive test, I wanted more sturdiness so I added another 2 bolts with larger washers from under the center console and fastened the base from the top...Much better, as my Saturday night run into Berdoo Canyon confirmed.. :flipoff2: this is the link for more pic details..

Nice James!

Speaking of Berdoo . . . we still need to go explore that side canyon we discovered.

Thanks Reid. Sure let's do the Berdoo Canyon anytime...well as soon as the temps go down..or do a night run.....

Yeah, but it is snug...At that point the passenger may be better off being the copilot and holding the laptop instead when needed.

Looks good! Can you have a passenger?

Nice set up!

Will have to see myself as well. I am thinking you stop and check out waypoints to make sure you are headed in the right direction. I think it will come in handy in trails such as the Mohave and the Truckhaven area, that place can be a maze...Not sure about places where there are not too many off shoot trails or places you are already familiar with...I mean, who needs a GPS for Lower Coyote Canyon?

I would like to here how it is wheeling with a laptop there. Personally I couldn't do it.
