Those tires look great! Congratulations

I don't know what tire pressure you are running, but my calculations tell me that 40psi F/R are correct for that size tire.

they set them to 44, guess I could let a bit of air out and see if they ride even better:cheers:

Have you owned Nitto terra grapplers and if so how do they compare? Mine are terrible when it's raining really heavy. In Colorado we get some heavy rain during Monsoon season which is now. Darn things hydro plane like crazy. My 200 is lifted and was thinking of going 295/70/18 but may stick with the size you got since I play in the snow allot.

I've never owned the Grapplers so I can't really compare the 2 tires, but I can tell ya I live in the PNW and we get a bit of rain up here too, so far these tires and exceeded my expectations in every enviroment:cheers:

Good to know. Thanks!

I"ve been running 40psi for city and mild off-roading, pretty much logging roads with lots of wash boarding etc.. The washboard sections of the road are causing lots of wheel hop and bounce even with no brake applied, I dropped the tire pressure down to 34 to see if a lower pressure would help to reduce wheel hop on the washboard sections of the road, which it appeared to do!?!? So I guess my question is while cruising rough on logging roads with lots of washboard and bumps what would be the ideal PSI in the tires? is lower better, it seemed like it helped? if so how low can ya go while cruising at 30 or 40 MPH? thanks in advance for any input!!!

New tires on 200

Kreiten, your post inspired some new tires on my 2008 200 series. I went with BFG All Terrain T/A KO's. Tire size is 275 70 18's. Your truck is nice. Thanks for posting pics.

looks really good!!! some new rubber makes it like a whole new rig!!!

How do the BFG AT KO compare to stock ride and noise ?

Jayfrem, I have been running the BFG AT KO's tires for 2.5 mos now. The ride feels less forgiving. So, not as soft and less forgiving to changes in road conditions. The cab is soo quite, I cannot tell there is any road noise difference. Overall very pleased. Good option for daily driver and light treading on the weekends.

I find that the BFG TA KOs are about 5 years too old, but do understand the premise... don't fix if not broken.

I'm a bigger fan of the Toyo AT2s. New tire from scratch released in 2012 IIRC. Good stuff and my #1 AT and MT choice.

W/ that said, one can't go wrong with the selections mentioned this thread esp the duratracs.

I have over 75,000 miles on one of the bfg at. Have the tire on 3 vehicles currently and were also on the LC 100 I had several years back. No other seem to have as strong a sidewall. In total I have over 210,000 miles experience with them.
For snow use, I think the GY Duratrac will work better though. Had a set for part of last year on my lr3 but decided to go with a separate winter wheel/tire set with true winter tire and continue with the bfg for another 75,000 seeing as I had a new set in the garage already.

In terms of size and tire choices, for the LC my first choice would be the GY Duratrac partially for the size choices. 275/70x18 is perfect on stock wheels. Anything wider is not ideal for overall dynamics on the 8" wheel and you get the most height without rubbing and articulation issues.

That Toyo at2 looks good too. Not quite all the same size in E load so it wouldn't be as good a choice for an lr3/4 but the E sizes are great for LC.

My LC will be more of a weekend urban bruiser kinda rig so the aesthetic is important to me as well. Ordered a set of 325/60/18 Toyo AT2s in their Xtreme fitment which is E-rated.

I'll be lifted on a set of Icon front adjustable coilovers with OME rears. I will most def need to do some trimming, but all plastic.

I looked into the Duratracs, but their smallest diameter is 34" same width.

I can testify that the AT2s are quiet on hwy. IIRC, BFG TA KOs were a little bit louder (hummmm), but nothing intrusive to the point of being annoying.

It simply comes down to your personal taste and sizing wants.

Well, I hope you're putting them on wider wheels. 325 is too wide for an 8" rim and will reduce safe handling. They would be great on a 9" wide wheel and look awesome with the usually lower offset number.

I know what I'm doing (I think) but thanks for the air cover regardless. ;)

wanting a 325 in the first place is somewhat suspect in regard to that so you are using the factory 18x8 or something else?

guess you don't know your wheel width?

you should not go over 305 (maybe squeeze 315's) on an 8" or 8.5" wheel (width). must go with minimum 9", ideally 10" wide wheel
