Not really a skid plate, but these are the protection for my power steps.

Plus a question...
More of a splash shield than a skid plate, but what are the opinions of installing the one directly under the radiator?

I'm wondering if it helps or hurts airflow through the radiator and my coolers.
I'm thinking it will help to route the air from the front through my transmission cooler better.

But it could also restrict air from below.

Thoughts?

I believe that skid is there to protect the accessory drive. I doubt it impacts, good or bad, air flow.

That thing is rather sexy from below. Has some non-typical things going on. Why so many holes in the skid plates? That plate under the belts is functional in my opinion and I think mostly to prevent a major wave of water from getting rudely acquainted with the fan, belts and alternator in the event of an aggressive plunge into a deep water crossing.

That yellow, poly looking bushing set up on the front arms is the first like it I have seen. Your idea?

Thanks. It's pretty much done under there other than the steering assist. Just waiting on hoses for that.

I started with the plate under the transmission and put some holes mostly to keep mud and debris from accumulating and to make it easier to wash out, i guess.

The rear plate was a bit of an afterthought, due to the small factory one already there that protects the transfer case.

It just didn't seem up to the standard of the one I had for the front. Lol. The oil line/fitting on the atlas was my main concern for protection.

This one should do the trick. This many holes? I guess it was about weight reduction. And filling out the pattern array 🤣

Yellow bushings are OME caster correction bushings.

Do you like those Walker Quiet-Flow mufflers. I was planning to try one when I have the new exhaust system built on the 1996 build I’m currently up to my neck in. Are they as quiet as the advertisements lead us to believe?

Yes. Definitely.

By our muffler shop recommendations, we started with a set of cherry bomb salutes. No Bueno.

So we paid 2x. 🙄

Not stock quiet, but major difference. Especially at idle.

Why is your rig so clean underneath? Where are the leaks? What is going on? I feel like either I'm on the wrong forum or I need to get my rig in better order. Seriously, nice rig, and very nice custom work there.

It occurred to me, that this could be a vulnerability for the coolers...

Well, can't have that. 🤣
