Well, I guess some kids decided to get in a gang shoot out in a movie theater parking lot full of children and families tonight and they hit my cruiser. Back window, headliner and just noticed the passenger seat was hit. Went through the back window, hit headliner went through and put a nice hole in my leather. Bullet landed in my shirt on the floor. I was not in it, and nobody was reported injured. No casings as it was a drive by, only bullet found was in my back seat. The gang then drove down the road and shot up another parking lot. Please pray they get caught and maximum charges are filed against them and the low life scum bags they are get what they deserve. I have put clear shipping tape over the entire back window as it's a little flimsy and put a few layers of tape over the hole. My 100 now has a anus...

Anybody know what a headliner and rear window cost? No damage to paint thankfully.

EDIT:

Daggum! Thank God yall are all safe! Adds to the list of reason to always carry... And headliner--just staple it back to the ceiling. Just kidding, I think in the end you'll end up spending under $100 for a DIY. My friends dad had to redo his in his 80 series, and I figure the pricing shouldn't be much different. He ordered a kit somewhere for like $75 and you have to buy adhesive or something on top of that. I may be totally wrong, but that's what he said for his 80.

Headliners are 'spensive. I wanna say $1200-1500? I had that figure in mind as I was removing mine to cut holes in it for the DVD player I installed last year. Just be glad that you're OK, and no one was injured. Be careful to check for all damage that may have occured - to vents/wiring/sunroof, etc. Are you thinking of going the insurance route to fix?

Going through insurance. I'm not touching a thing until it gets to the shop. I'm not happy but it's only a back window. Headliner will be $$$$$$$. not to happy about the stickers

This should be a interesting claim...

Jeez. Glad you werent in it at the time man. I say leave the headliner in as a conversation piece for your passengers.

Damn dude, hope insurance covers it! The most important thing is that you were not in the car at the time!

Crazy. Where were you parked?

Man , glad you were not in there and no one got hurt. What a pain in the *** to have to deal with this right before a ride coming up... I think gangs are more prevalent then what most people believe no matter where you live.

Did you check the roof panel?

Something made that projectile deflect and I doubt it was the foam in the headliner. It may have made contact with the sheetmetal underneath or possibly a support rail for the C-pillar. Easiest way to check is to stand up on a tire and check for a "bubble" on the roof in the area where it went thru the headliner.

Here's what I would do - INSURANCE ESTIMATE. Don't let them offer a recover on the head liner - demand new. The leather won't be cheap either since they have to take the entire panel out and replace, then re-dye the entire seat. As concillation, get an estimate from a upolstery shop to install an AATLASX1 kit. The total for back glass, leather, and liner will probably be in the neighborhood of $4000.

You're looking at $1000+ for leather, and $2000 list for the OEM glass and liner, not counting labor and tax.

Once you get a price and settle w/ insurance, order a AATLASX1 leather kit and find a rear upper gate from a wrecked cruiser - if there's any reasonably close to you. I would install the leather kit myself and take the gate to a glass company. Get them to pull the glass from the junker hatch and install in yours. You would probably get out at around $1500 or so total. I honestly wouldn't worry about the headliner...

With the $2000+ that's left, either some slee steel or some ARB's. :D

Like everyone said "Glad you're o.k.!"

I once did a motor swap job on a friends 1971 Ford Bronco here in Wyoming. We were cleaning up the bell housing and found a really unique hole up towards the top, on the passenger side. We scratched our heads for quite some time trying to figure out what was the cause. The hole had a cone shape to it with the larger hole on the inside of the housing and the small part on the out side. I thought maybe the clutch had come apart at one time but there was no other evidence of damage. After a few cold ones, the flashlight bulb that I call my brain finally lit up. We climbed back underneath the truck and sure enough, there was a hole in the passenger floor board, covered by a cheap piece of carpet scrap, that lined up perfectly with the hole in the bell housing. My guess is someone was probably out hunting (or screwing around, as we are want to do up here) and touched off a round that went through the floor board and the bell housing. I also had a vision of a rough old cowboy, with his trusty Winchester 30-30, dispatching a tired old horse of a Bronco because it broke down one time too many.

Peace - Bob

How would carrying a weapon have helped in this situation? I am not against carrying a weapon for self-defense, but this instance in no way supports that arguement.
This supports the "adds to the reasons never to leave my property" arguement, but not "damn, if only I had my gun, this wouldn't have happened".
Glad no one was injured and good luck in your repair adventure.

No bubbles or dents out of the ordinary on the roof. When I saw the entry exit I looked at the sheet metal and did not see any bubbles. I will look in a few minutes when I go down stair as I just woke up. Thank for your tips.

Hopefully it was a dream and my baby is safe and not broken.

I am thinking about ordering from cdan, but not sure if a headliner/glass is a bit much to ship.

OMG......x1000...

Bullet holes are sexy.

I need help with finding a used rear window. Can go through insurance as deductible is 1K and just not worth it.
