So I have my paint codes and now I need a local source for sheet metal to patch my 55. Is 16 ga right? Does anyone know where to pick some sheet metal up at locally and what it will roughly cost? I'll need a good bit...

steve........ my factory literature list the body sheet metal as 14 gauge, but that it is mid sixties literature so it might not be accurate for your 76

if you can't find anything locally we have a good place here in clemson......Blue Ridge Welding supplies

good luck

Clemson isn't far. I was over at Jocassee Gorges yesterday. If I can't find anything I'll swing by Clemson.

I guess I need to measure some metal I already have if there is anything not rusted. I think 16 gauge is pretty commonly used but I also know the gauge changes periodically...

Blue Ridge is where I get most of my steel from. I believe I got a 4'x8' sheet for about $100. Its been 3 yrs though so my memory is probably poor.

and you also got much thicker than 16ga. :grinpimp:

Try specialty steels in Piedmont. I bought a 4x8 of 11 ga for $130 last year. They're right out by Donaldson Ctr.
