Got my new to me 1998 LC delivered last nite from TX. Black with NEW tan leather and a blown engine, 305k miles it will need a drivers side fender (dented no rust anywhere), I washed it put a hot battery in it, everything electric seems to work,,, But here is the question the front end seems LOW like a couple inches lower than my wifes LX470... this LC has the standard suspension and her lx has the AHC.. and might just be me but it looked like on the LC the front camber was off...

anyone used the repop china fenders? actually looks like that might be what is on this... seems thin compared the LX,
I'd post pictures but not sure how from my I-phone

no buyers remorse YET... I purchased a 115k engine off ebay... so maybe it will be rolling in a week or so

figured out the pictures I think

Does look a little low. The measurements for front height should be in the FSM. Probably needs torsion bars adjusted, rear springs, and alignment. I'd leave it low and deflate those tires so you can get in there for the engine swap!

got some pictures up... does it look low in the front?
It should be lower in the front. Load up the back with stuff and she'll balance out...just like a pickup truck. ;)

This thing came up on ebay last week with a buy it now of $1100.00 it was 12minutes old when I punched the buy it now button, I have $500 in delivery and $630 in a engine with 115k on it, I'll spend another $300 timing belt kit hoses gaskets ect... a fender is $200 (china) and $100 in black paint.... toss in some 02 sensors & other misc oil & filters maybe 2 tires and I'm still under 3k.... I have this TRD supercharger sitting on a running 4.7 engine in the corner... that i might have to sell to cover this... we will see

I use a ladder and put the truck up on ramps spend as much time under it as you do on top... I use a forklift to pull/place the engine... If I get a chance I'll pull it tomorrow... about 3hrs to get it out

Nice. Are you able to get long block engines or do you have to swap a bunch of parts?

A paintless dent repair pro may be able to fix the fender. I had a worse smash in my 4Runner quarter panel and after about 2 hours it looked perfect.

Seems like a cool project! Why not put the Supercharged motor you already have in it? Why'd you buy a 3rd 2UZ is my question?
well... I really don't need a super charged engine... I'm old low & slow it's not like one of these would ever be fast... the" 3rd engine" was $400 + $230 shipping bone stock 115k the supercharged engine has 165k on it... with at least 25k of that with the supercharger... with the added pressures lets call that 200k which might or might not be fine... I believe i can get an easy 100k more out of the 115k motor... just my thinking...

On these older 1998-2001 ( i think) they have a different wire harness and throttle body from the latter "fly by wire" 2002-4 engines... the engines usually come pretty complete but you do have to swap... the manifolds (intake & exhaust) oil filter mount, oil pan & pick-up and use the wire harness from the LC... pretty much all theses 4.7 seem to be the same basic long block, they tend to be pretty reasonable used because of their long life and the huge number of them out there, the timing belt change while out of the truck is a 45min job... I'm by no means an expert... before these in my teens I built british cars... and small block powered dirt cars... with the amount of room in these 100 series engine bays and the fact that most connections on these can only connect 1 way... it's not a difficult job... I'd rather swap an engine in one than pull the heads ( i think less work)...

^^^ this is good to hear on the 98 - 01.... You could always swap the supercharged engine in mine : - )

You stole it. The new leather alone is more than $1100.
+1 on this. After all the work you put into it to get it up and running, you'll have made out like a Goldman Sachs executive during a gov't bail out.
