Have had several LCs over the years........just picked up a beautiful 04 LX470 from Wisconsin. Dealership delivered vehicle to Michigan and took our trade-in (a 15 Infiniti QX80) back with them. Loved the Infiniti, but was able to shed a car payment by doing this, which is great.
So it's an 04 LX470. Spent winters in Clearwater, FL until 2012, so it's only seen 3-4 northern Winters. 169k miles, 2-owner, sold and serviced exclusively by the selling Lexus dealer since new.
Going through the pages of service history, it's pretty Un-Remarkable. All the services were done, every oil change on-time, the 30k services were all done. Water pump and timing belt done at 91k. Transmission started having delayed engagement of reverse at 130k, they checked fluid (clean) and told customer to drive it a bit more. It didn't improve, so they replaced the transmission at 135k.......at the Lexus dealer. (this is one of the the first trans failures I can even find on the 5 speed auto).
Nothing else in the service history to note.
Car is extremely clean, body/interior/undercarriage, with only a couple items I'd like advice on:
1) Very slight rust bubbling at top of windshield, driver's A-pillar area. I'll put clear silicone on it to get through the winter, then I plan on having my bodyshop pull the glass, fix whatever rust is back there before it rots the A-pillar away. (both A-pillars are dry inside at the bottom)
2) very slight rust starting at inside seam on upper tailgate. I can fix myself to keep it from spreading.
3) Upon close examination, the Passenger seat leather looks like it's been resprayed.......and the finish is starting to rub off. IS there any RELIABLE source for new leather covers (no, I don't want camo or sheepskin) to have professionally installed? I bought a set of ATLAS skins for my 80, which turned out terrific, but it sounds like he's no longer a reputable vendor.
Any help appreciated, THANK YOU!
