There is a pretty good sale on these right now - I want to move to a somewhat more road oriented tire with good braking, snow and wear characteristics. What do you think of these tires, those running them? I see they aren't avail. in 315's - anyone have strong thoughts about that? I'm 315 compatible - have an HDJ81 with the torque to go 315 without gear change, debating tires now. Would like to hear your opinions.

Based on my experience with stock R&P and 33" and 35" tires with an automatic tranny the resulting shift points of the tranny do not match stock making the rig sluggish when accelerating/climbing (and the resultant overall higher gear range effected on-trail use too). FYI: When I did the 4.88 (from OEM 4.30) with 315/35" the vehicle responds much, much better...like stock...on and off-trail.

With those torque numbers it would be interesting. You would notice a loss in power and an increase in fuel consumption for sure. Regearing would make those big shoes spin!

I have 315s and 4.88s and the stock engine is happy as a clam.

Does goodyear have a promotion on these?

i have them in 285. I also got a great deal on them. Had them for about 10,000 miles. I love them. Had them in a ton of snow and they never lost traction once. they are pretty quiet on the streets of socal and also do well on dirt/rocks. I would say get them. They seem to be wearing great and I am more than pleased.

Good tires. I've had them (305/70) for approx 8K miles with no complaints. It has been mostly street driving and one long road trip.

Did you consider 255/85R16? I've been curious about this size on these trucks. Are they too narrow?

That's exactly what I have right now in BFG M/T. Tread is really aggressive and more mud oriented than I want, plus noisy.
