Just picked up a set of the Goodyear Assurance Wiper Blades as backups for when it rains. The new design sold me but living in AZ who knows when I get to use them. Who is using them? Is the new design an upgrade and do they really work better?

I've got the Bosch Icons, similar design. I have been running them for a good time now. They dont make the back one in a 16" but 17" fits no issue. Look is definitely a plus, but also their ability to NOT get packed full of snow/ice is key for me.

The problem we have in AZ is the blade die due to 100°+ temps. We only get 7" of rain on a good year so for the most part I carry a set inside for when I need them. 90% of the time you need wipers they are rotted from heat.
Thanks for the input. The Goodyears are going back and Im back to the $5 blades behind the seat.
If the rains are anything like I remember down there, they are fast, heavy and torrential. If you're taking suggestions, I'd highly recommend applying a good Rain-X treatment to your windshield and use a set of their Latitude blade or the Valeos I mentioned. The treatment will cause water to run off like you've never seen.
I always thought they were worth the money. I used them primarily on the different Audis I previously owned. The Rain-X blades come close, but I still have yet to find anything that wipes as cleanly, regardless of speed that also wipes everything in the blade's path. Again, the Rain-X comes close. I'd use Valeos if they had an application for the LC, but they don't. The Valeos were also quieter and lasted longer.Yes Rain-X is great I always use it prior to travel and look forward to the rain.Do you need to use Rain-x for Latitude blades to get the full effect? I still need to look into the Valeos.
Found them -> Valeo 900-22-1B Ultimate Wiper Blade - 22"...Wow Pricey, really that good?
Really? even with the snow? The old style blades seem to pack up with snow and ice so quickly here in Montana that they are the first thing to go on a new vehicle.Been using OEM inserts for years. Love them. Cheap too when you just by the rubber only. They hold up very well as ice scrapers during winter here.
I have not ran the Good Years. I have ran the Boschs and they were not very good and did not last long at all. I now run Rain-X, which is of a similar design.
If you can find them or the right size, get some Valeos. They were the original and I have yet to find a peer to their performance.
I'm surprised you were so displeased with the Bosch's, I put Icon's on my 01' almost a year ago and havent changed them since. I like them alot more than the OEM blades. They move water really good, no smearing either. Granted, I might also have a higher tolerance for rain on my windshield.......we got 6.46" in June
and 15.34" back in September
I might try the Valeos on the 00', since they are about the same price as the Icons, and the OEM ones aren't looking too good anymore.
Does anyone know what wipers come on BMWs.....the 3 series if it matters?
