Just picked up a set of the Goodyear Assurance Wiper Blades as backups for when it rains. The new design sold me but living in AZ who knows when I get to use them. Who is using them? Is the new design an upgrade and do they really work better?

I've got the Bosch Icons, similar design. I have been running them for a good time now. They dont make the back one in a 16" but 17" fits no issue. Look is definitely a plus, but also their ability to NOT get packed full of snow/ice is key for me.

Bosch Icon 416A works for the rear.......I've had it on there for almost year now

for some reason both times I went to get new wipers they didnt have the 16". Good to know thanks!

I have these blades and they lasted about five minutes before they started to smear. You get what you pay for.

I have not ran the Good Years. I have ran the Boschs and they were not very good and did not last long at all. I now run Rain-X, which is of a similar design.

If you can find them or the right size, get some Valeos. They were the original and I have yet to find a peer to their performance.

The problem we have in AZ is the blade die due to 100°+ temps. We only get 7" of rain on a good year so for the most part I carry a set inside for when I need them. 90% of the time you need wipers they are rotted from heat.

Thanks for the input. The Goodyears are going back and Im back to the $5 blades behind the seat.

If the rains are anything like I remember down there, they are fast, heavy and torrential. If you're taking suggestions, I'd highly recommend applying a good Rain-X treatment to your windshield and use a set of their Latitude blade or the Valeos I mentioned. The treatment will cause water to run off like you've never seen.

Yes Rain-X is great I always use it prior to travel and look forward to the rain. :D Do you need to use Rain-x for Latitude blades to get the full effect? I still need to look into the Valeos.

Found them -> Valeo 900-22-1B Ultimate Wiper Blade - 22"...Wow Pricey, really that good?

I always thought they were worth the money. I used them primarily on the different Audis I previously owned. The Rain-X blades come close, but I still have yet to find anything that wipes as cleanly, regardless of speed that also wipes everything in the blade's path. Again, the Rain-X comes close. I'd use Valeos if they had an application for the LC, but they don't. The Valeos were also quieter and lasted longer.

So if you're in the snow belt or see a lot of rain, they are worthy investment. I also always felt that the Valeos never packed or held snow, no matter the conditions. The Rain-Xs still do and can get some ice to glom on to the bades.
Been using OEM inserts for years. Love them. Cheap too when you just by the rubber only. They hold up very well as ice scrapers during winter here.
Really? even with the snow? The old style blades seem to pack up with snow and ice so quickly here in Montana that they are the first thing to go on a new vehicle.

I'm surprised you were so displeased with the Bosch's, I put Icon's on my 01' almost a year ago and havent changed them since. I like them alot more than the OEM blades. They move water really good, no smearing either. Granted, I might also have a higher tolerance for rain on my windshield:steer:.......we got 6.46" in June:D and 15.34" back in September:flipoff2:

I might try the Valeos on the 00', since they are about the same price as the Icons, and the OEM ones aren't looking too good anymore.

Does anyone know what wipers come on BMWs.....the 3 series if it matters?

I am running the Goodyears and find them somewhat better than the OEM for snow buildup in winter but the sharp edges on the cover pieces annoy me when I clean them with a windshield squeegee.

I think cleaning the windshield and wiper makes a bigger difference in performance than brand. A clay bar does wonders for the windshield and a paper towel with silicone spray works great on the wipers.

Just make sure you get the Bosch Icons, they also have the Bosch Evolutions that look the same, however they do not perform the same

I was too, actually. In most other Bosch products, they are top notch. These just didn't last very long. At all. Not even a year.

I assume they were the Icons. The design was very similar to the Rain-X Latitudes. They simply did not last very long. :meh:

I use Michelin All Season Performance blades in my L.C. and my other vehicles. They are great in rain, snow, or ice and hold up well to heat/sun. They also don't lift at high speeds like some winter blades do.
