Good tow vehicle for 30' Airstream?

Weighed the LC 200 without airstream
Had about 3/4 tank gas , no driver or passengers when weighed
Front axle 3080 lb
Rear axle 2920 lb
Total weight 6000lb

From what I have seen, 25'+ Airstreams are a little heavy for the 200. The overall weights may be okay at 7300# max loaded weight but tongue weights are up there. I looked at a 25' Safari with Rear Bedroom and the tongue weight with only the propane (no other cargo) was 860#. A Hensley hitch weighs close to 100# so now you are looking at almost 1000# of weight on your truck. Add a couple of passengers and gear and you are quickly exceeding the 200s overall weight capacity.

This is why we decided to look at alternatives to Airstreams. We ended up buying a 2015 Coachmen Apex 288BHS 50th Anniversary. It's lighter, has more room and is 1/3 the price of a 2015 27' Airstream Flying Cloud. For the price of the Coachmen you can barely buy a 10 year old Airstream.

So a trailer with the following specs...too much?

Length - 27'6"
Width - 8'4"
Dry Weight - 5430
Hitch Weight - 612
GVWR - 7500

That will be the dry hitch weight. You need to add the weight of the WD hitch system, propane, water, batteries, etc.

I'm not sure water counts towards hitch weight.

I have 2005 rear bedroom Airstream Safari
Tongue weight with water and full propane is 650 lb
I have recently weighed total rig and 200 over certified scales,
Can post if interested
