Good price for an 8247-50?

Last year the best I could find was $1850 from my local dealers. Now that's here in Canada so -20% for US funds = $1480.

I know, apples and oranges.

Can you trust the seller might be the bigger question.

I placed an order for one. We'll see if they cancel it. I figure that it's Amazon so if I have problems with the seller I should be able to get things straightened out.

I think the seller screwed up with the pricing. I should know in a few days if they are going to honor the order or not.

That's why I bought mine in the states. I paid $1111 a year and a half ago at Central 4WD in Kent, Wa. IIRC, the border guards never asked if I had anything to declare.

So $1242 is a reasonable price then? It's not a crazy low price? I looked around online over the course of a few weeks and this was the best price I could find. The average appears to be around $1600US which just seems silly.

I used to live in Kent Wa. - I was born on Mercer Island (Seattle), lived in Clyde Hill and Renton. Course all this was a long time ago as a kid.

The border guards usually don't get to picky. But if they do choose you for their hourly spot check and they find receipts for work done or expensive parts that you previously stated you didn't have they can get a little uptight. One time on my return from three months in Florida (bike week and the Daytona 500) they searched me top to bottom and found receipts for 5k in body work on my mustang. The guy got a little bent until I explained that I was involved in an accident and I hadn't paid for the work - my insurance co. did.

Annnnyyyway - that's a good price considering the quote you get from most places.

Rufus - $1242 ain't to bad. $1111 was 18 months ago and I don't know about where you are but around here inflation over that period was really bad so $130 more may be about right.

I just bought one from "Truck Add On's". $1,380. No shipping, no tax, so that is to my door and I had in less than a week.

I had the receipt sitting beside me ready to show him. He asked what we had be doing in the states, I let him know (research work on the coast) and he sent us on our way without anything more. :) Sometimes you luck out.

I just checked Central 4WD's site, the 8274-50 is $1590 US now  Glad I got it when I did.

The winch arrived today. It's as advertised. I was a little worried due to the seller's poor feedback but I'm a happy camper.

congrats -I'd love to have a new one. Maybe I'll upgrade in a couple years when my truck is done.

That bad boy is heavy isn't it!?!

Yeah, the FedEx ground guy had me fetch it from the truck. He claimed it was 100 pounds. It didn't feel that heavy to me.

About 1-2 yrs ago I picked up one from Weaver Equipment Company in PA for about $1100, $50 shipping. Can't find anything on them now. Looks like their site is down or something. Also got a 9.5ti a few years back from them for a great price too. Oh well.

Ed: From what I can tell, they are at another website now, www.speedparts814.com, that I got from some myspace site, but online price is $1400. No joy there.
