Figured it's probably more appropriate to ask here:

Need some help here guys. Friend of mine who works at a dealer gave me a heads up on a car they're taking in on trade and he's giving me first crack at it.

It's a 2006 with 80k miles, White. Car is located in Atlanta and has no rust whatsoever. Also, it just had the timing belt done. He said I could have it for $25k. Seems like a good deal to me, but I just wanted to check what you guys thought.

Seems like an alright price if not a couple thousand high, if you're serious I'd shoot for a bit less out the door.

Id say 24, but with the low miles and more powerful V8 they will get that and more all day long. If you want one , Id get it. Otherwise let me know and I will trade my low mileage one for it. ;)

If it has all scheduled maintenance done, $25k doesn't sound too bad for an 06 LX with 80k miles. Someone will buy it at that price. KBB dealer retail is around $23k, so try to bargain with them if you can.

I think that's a bit high. They are going for 22-24 in Seattle for 06's with less than 100,000, and the market up here is extremely inflated. I don't think I would give over 22k. I would grab it immediately for 20k.

I think you ought to try to get the price down, but if not take it.

My advice is to decide very quick - someone is going to pay that price.

I also think that is a bit high. I personally don't value 80k miles that much more than I would 120-140K. Much rather have the 120-140K at a ginorous price difference without any real difference in vehicle loss or quality.

If it had the full 90K service, including water pump, and has clear maintenance history on Lexus.com, just buy it. You'd just kick yourself if you lose it for $1000 while procrastinating.

All that said, 200s are starting to move into the low #30K range. ;-)

In four months this vehicle won't qualify for a pre approved loan (older than 10 years). Edmonds and Kelley blue book both put the value much lower than 25k. Plus, most used car buying articles say you should shoot for trade in price, since that is what the dealer paid. I figure 1k over trade in would be a good deal which pit this 19-21k depending on options and which website you use to calculate.

It will not last a day or two once they post it on internet. Buy it and will not regret.

Very good advice. I agree. If that LX is as nice as it sounds, it will sell quickly.

Also, even though the 200's are dropping into the low $30K price, they are so butt ugly.

If you have time, keep shopping - it's a fun game. If you don't, then buy it - it's fun ride.

From my personal experience: age trumps miles. I will go for a 3-year old car with 200k miles over a cream puff with a lot of 'just going to church and grocery store' BS any time of the day. OTOH, these are not regular cars..

Absolutely agree with that! To me its the trucks that aren't DDs that I would be more afraid of. I think the sitting around oxidizing is not a good thing.

OP hasn't posted since. Maybe he's on his way home with it now.

Hi guys. OP here. Thanks for all the advice. I decided to pass on it. I figured it was a fair price, but not some unheard of deal, so I decided to wait for the next one in a more preferred color. Turns out that it sold the next day for a little more than I could've gotten it for.

Thanks again for the input. Helps to get some real world pricing data.
