Any recomendations for a good shop to work on my 2000LC other than the dealer. I need to do the dreaded starter & I don;t have the time.

Any recomendations welcome; also good sources for OEM parts, like the starter?

second wellesley toyota i get all my parts there. sorry to hear about that starter that thing was placed in the worst place posable on the 100's

I live north of Boston in Groveland and have done this job on my fathers V8 Tundra.

I could do it over the weekend with or without your help.

I'd also go with CDan for a contact kit, that would save you some good cash on the job.

Gary:

My offer is still open to come down and give you a hand, assuming you have a garage to work in.

Hell, I've got a garage, come down and I'll watch

Either way Gary, you need to get that fixed ASAP. If the plunger jams in the on position it can do some serious damage to your electrical system.

Is it worth all the effort to do just the contacts? How much is the starter $300??

I second Cruiser Solutions and I'll raise ya. Tedd and his whole crew are great.

My 60 is with them now.

The contact kit is like $30.00 from CruiserDan and at your mileage it's all that is wrong with it. The kit takes about 1/2 an hour to install it into the starter. I hang out in the 80 section on here and there is a good writeup on how to do it.

Real common on all Toyotas.

I spoke to Tedd a few weeks ago & he actually said he had not done a starter on a 100. He is about an hr from me.
