Who on here does programming. I just need a few simple things done.

And can any tell me how hard it is to learn EFILive?

Peter

Lt1swap.com is reasonably priced for making your pcm work as stand alone and he has the info for cleaning up your own harness.

Looking at their site, they aren't into custom work. I need the throttle table redone.

Thanks.

Never used EFi live, but I do have HP tuners for my Camaro. I taught myself mainly by reading the Hptuners website and tuned it on the street and track. It's not too hard, but very time consuming and a TON info to take in. I felt pretty dumb after reading some of the forums lol. Some of those guys are pretty awesome and I used a lot of their work/info to get my car on the right path. I definitely dont have the time/patience to figure all that stuff out on my own. Making small changes, driving it, logging it, reading logs, and making more changes. I have a pretty big cam in my car, so that definitely made it more difficult. If you just need a basic tune and you dont plan on making a bunch of changes, you're probably better off paying someone to do it, if you plan to constantly make changes and like to tinker with stuff, tuning is right up your alley.

right now all I want to do is change the gas to 87 octane and remap the throttle table. I'm sure there's a scan tool that can do it, but the only one I could find was $900. Seems like there ought to be a cheaper solution for doing something as simple at changing the octane being used.

Thanks for that, I'm in touch with him.

I want to do some logging to look at the TCM data so I can figure out a longstanding transmission problem I have. As far as I can tell, the only way I can do this is to pay $900 for a EFI Live unit - painful.

208 Motor Sports can do remote tuning, give Josh a call (208) 649-6123

If you facebook: Team 208 Motorsports

I second this, Josh rocks and his wiring guy Kevin is also great. I have worked with both and known Kevin awhile. Solid guys that know their stuff and hard to beat a lifetime tune for a one time price. $300 is what they charge iirc and they will tune it as many times as you want, forever! They will even tune it on the fly if you can get to their shop with the truck. They also go to King of the Hammers every year and you could hook up with them down there.

FYI, I had a v8 80-series with the 4L60e. The trans had a valve body-shift kit in it and had been tuned to match. Best auto trans I have ever driven. Pretty cheap to do to any GM auto and worth every penny imho.

Cheers

HP tuners is $500. I use it. Works great. What you want to do will be spendy. Most folks can put a standard tune on it with some info for a pretty reasonable price. Datalogging takes a lot of time. I'm tweaking my 6.2 in my 45 now. Lots of driving and looking at logs.

Thanks for that. It costs about $500 every time I go to the tune shop, so the cost seems worth it and more reasonable that the $900 EFI charges, but still there's a learning curve I've got to commit to that I 'm not that fired up about. I don't want a fancy tune, I just want the thing to run without problems. But I've got a 5.3 in a 60 and a 6.0 in a 40 - so maybe I have to make the investment.
