Hey guys,

I have been lurking around the site for years since I had a 91 80. It dies about three years ago, but I always missed it. After it died I picked up a 99 LR Discovery II which has been nothing short of a nightmare. I have litterally spent thousands of dollars keeping it on the road. I am on the second set of heads right now.

Recently I broke down and invested in a new ride for me and my two boys to play in. I picked up a almost stock 96 LX450 w/160K to make our "Man Truck". The goal her is to have a relaible DD that can haul us to our campsite in style and maybe do some light trails. We have done UWharrie a number of times in the Disco and the old Cruiser and love to ride.

Right now I have a ARB bumper and 9.5K Warn on the front and a roof rack. I also picked up a set of FJ rims to go on it as the ones on it today are nothing that I have seen before.

Future mods
2"-2.5" lift
Larger tires (probably BFG A/T)
Sliders
RTT
I would love a rear bumper but they are stupid expensive and I don't know how to weld but hopefully will learn soon.

Since I have the rims I am currently on the lookout for a set of tires to go with them. I won't be adding the lift for a couple months but I was wondering if 35" will fit as long as it isn't wheeled till I get the lift.

If anyone has a extra set floating aorund let me know.

Dean, Welcome to Olde North State Cruisers.

As mentioned you should be fine witht the 35's untill you get your lift. Worst case is you get a little harmless scrub at full turn on a speedbump or the like. Heck one of the 450s at logans run was wheeling the whole park with 35's and no lift.

Are your FJ rims 17''? that will affect your tire search.
Lots of slider options, but worth a shout to Stan (NCFJ on here) about fabbing you some somewhat locally. He is in Chesnee SC. You also have Carolina truggies in Indian Trail.
Strong Toy (clint) has your front springs and shocks if you're looking to piece together a kit or Camel 4x4 has a good price on the Ironman kits.

Look forward to seeing you on the trail instead of the side of the road :D

I know i've seen that truck before..... looks like one of the ones Jason Traylor looked at with me a few years back.

Thanks guys,

Thanks for the greetings. I actually picked up the LX off of Ebay of all places. It was a one owner vehical out of Richmond. The inside looks brand new, the back seats had never been sat in and the back seats I don't even need to say anything about.

I figured the 17" FJ Rims would be a little tough to find tires for but I like the look. If I have to break down a buy a set I will, but the more I can save on them the faster the lift comes.

Does anyone know the right size tire I should be looking for?

Is the meeting something I can bring my boys to? They are 8 and 9 and love the truck.
