It's between the ARB Safari and TJM. Looks wise, I think the TJM MIGHT have the edge on looks department. I kind of like the ARB in that, to me, it looks more macho. Not saying the TJM is feminine but it doesn't scream I am going to forge a river.
Anyway, looks aside, which of the two will perform better? Being that I have never had a snorkel, I do not know how they should behave in certain environments. Is a pre-filter better, is it to ARB's advantage that the head can be turner around, or is that a bad idea? I would think that rain would enter the TJM easier or if you had a rush of water run up the windshield, the TJM would get engulfed.

I love the looks of the TJM it looks so much better than the ARB. Paul should be prohibited from posting pics of his 100 in fact. To me looks like the TJM is more aerodynamic and likely has less wind noise. Can't say from first hand experience.

You most likely aren't going to be fording any rivers with your truck so my advice is to look at the whole setup as a clean air delivery system. The TJM is kind of like a ram air device. The ARB has a little bit of a smaller opening. A plus for ARB is that you can turn the intake around 180 degrees in the event that you are driving 100 MPH in a monsoon.

You also may want to consider which one is less likely to get hung up on trail obstacles. TJM...smoooth. ARB...not so much.

Lastly, TJM has a little less wind noise at highway speeds.

I like my tjm, minimal wind noise and my main trail follows a river, so I know it works.

To me the TJM looks like it would not only suck in rain but also every thing that is swept off the windshield by the wipers since it sits right above the windshield and since most of its use around here is road driving that seems to be more water than I'd be comfortable with. The ARB or the knock off at least sits away from the wipers and windshield. and can be flipped backwards when you get extremely wet. Just my 2cents.:meh:

I've had the TJM/AirTec on my 100 for about 8 months and have had no problems with water in heavy downpours. Wind noise isn't too bad, my tires drown that out anyway:grinpimp:

Do a search, there was a pretty comprehensive thread on the AirTec when they hit the shores at the vendors in the US.

I wish I could have made it to Logan's Run so you could check it out

I went through the same thing , I love the TJM , but what sold me was the price on the knock off.... and it says Land Cruiser on it... now I can put that extra $$ towards a front locker..... And I can run different tops on it to be cool like our folks over seas.

Where can one buy this "knock off" version you speak of?

Search eBay. If you do pull the trigger do not buy the "pre-notched" version. Notch it yourself carefully. I've had the "fleabay" snorkel on for the better half of the year. It's been baked in GA sun, and through many 100*F+ commutes, and wheeling trips. So far no fading or issues. The wind noise is non-existent...KM-2's kind of eliminated any wind noise with a whhhhhhrrrrrrrrr. Getting hung on objects other than the car wash brush is not a problem either. I love my cheapo snorkel.

I think the TJM looks the best. But, i like the rear facing ability of the safari snorkel head.
