$249 Are these really that rare?

I realize it is new, according to the ad, but seems inflated. I have a similar one in my parts pile that came with my '62 FJ40.

I realize it is new, according to the ad, but seems inflated. I have a similar one in my parts pile that came with my '62 FJ40.

These are pretty rare. I'm surprised these weren't still available new since the OEM gas cans still are. But the price on those has shot way up. If you can a carrier that is tall like this and has straps that fit the Toyota gas can (different size than the standard GI gas cans) it pretty rare. Most carrier that we find on our cruiser are the short one that fit the GI gas cans. I think at over $500 for a Toyota can and carrier I'll pass.

Hadn't one of our overseas friends found a stash of these from 70 series and teased us...........or maybe this is them. They do have extra studs on the face as if a license bracket or something were bolted to it.
