General WTH is this supposed to do thread

As I'm exploring the 550, I have questions that aren't readily apparent in either the manual or online.

So, maybe we start a general WTH is this so it's easier for folks to search through the forum?

I'll start...anyone know what is up with this? It looks like it's designed for an adaptor of some kind but I can't find any details on it...it's the 2 vertical metal bars right under the power and communication ports to the right.

Wife thought it was to rest your cell phone on, but it's too slippery and slides around (depending on how spirited I am driving that day).

@carboncycles I use to work at Toyota and we were required to walk all new owners through every feature of their new car. Your sales person failed you. But my first guess was similar to your wife's, I thought wireless charger.
