General Grabbers?

They are very cool tires...I've heard good reviews, but they are insanely expensive and only come with that fugly red sidewall lettering. I think they would be great for an expo truck or desert runner as they were designed for Baja competition IIRC. Can't get over the red lettering though.

Can you go Red In?

I thought I saw them available without the red letters, ill check and report back. Seems like you could go red in like Jon said.

Edit:
Discount tire direct shows the Grabber in an 18" and 20" then the Grabber Red Letter in 15"-20"...might have to make a call.

I thought I read somewhere that they were only available w/ the red out because of the tread pattern or some such nonsense. Then again, this is the internet where everything is correct...

Too much money for essentially an aggressive AT, IMO...and they don't do all that great in snow/ice from what I've read. Cool looking tires but not for me. I'd like to see someone on here run them though and give us some real world feedback.

When I worked at Ford in my hometown they put these on the F350s all the time.. The owner runs them on all his trucks...

Though that was befre he red lettered ones... And yes $$$$$$$

they come with black lettering, you have to pay extra for the red lettering, my friend has them on his pre runner, with custom tread for stadium racing

Reviews I have seen show the tread to wear fast...very fast.

Oh contraire. I've always thought that the BFG TA's were tops for snow - until that is, someone I know got a set of General Grabbers AT2. He said that they blew away the BFGs in the snow.

He isn't talking about the Grabber AT2, just the General Grabber. Two totally different tires. They could have come up with a more creative name I suppose, but still they aren't the same thing.

Looks like there are no less that (4) General Grabber versions! Grabber AW, HTS, TR, and AT2. Of those, the AT2 is the only All Terrain tire.

They also have a disclaimer that not all sizes get the snowflake.

OP is about the General Grabbers, they come with and without red letters. No initials after the name and they are all terrain.

^^^ yeah... Here is the link to the Geberal Grabber specs: General Tire - Off-Road and Performance Tires - The Tires - Light Truck & SUV

This new Grabber is their premium / flagship model. I also looked at purchasing some of these. No one had these in stock and they were all back ordered a few month ago. Still doesn't look like they are readily available yet... Glad I didn't wait... Nice looking but expensive and haven't been out long enough to be reviewed by consumers...

Ahha! Gotcha. Funny, but that's the only one that doesn't show on tirerack.com. Sorry for the confusion!
