gas tank

Hi, Since my fj40 didn't have a gas tank I purchased a steel replacement from COOT, however it has two fittings on the side where the gas line comes thru the hump. I called COOT and they didn't know which to use, which one should I use, the one in the middle of the side or the one near the back bottom? This is going in a 1971.

That is your fuel outlet.
