This weekend I will be removing my current gas tank skid plate to be replaced, and from reading online (here) I understand the skid plate is supported/held-up by the same brackets that keep the gas tank itself in place. Obviously I'll have to figure out someway to keep the tank supported while I replace the skid plate, but will this job require the truck to be jacked up, or will having it jacked up simply make it easier but not necessary?

As always, thanks friends.

Easier, but not necessary. I used a pair of ramps and had enough hight to drop the tank and replace it.

Im not trying to state the obvious, but sometimes we overlook the simplest things.
Petroleum is around 5lbs per gallon, so even with the low fuel light just coming on youre looking at 25lbs just in fuel.
