My gas oven will heat up for about 20 minutes then shut itself off. Once it cools it will relight.

Ideas?

Other gas appliances in the house working ok?

Is it overheating? Sounds like one of the safety features is wonky. Either it's overheating or it thinks it's overheating. That's my WAG, anyway.

Other gas is working fine. I have been reading up on a "hot surface igniter". Seems it will allow oven to ignite then can't keep up with repeated on off cycles.

I'm with Spike, probably some $25 gizmo gone bad. If it were me I'd be calling a service tech (or start your turkey now)..;)

Well, I ordered the oven igniter. Based on what I've read it's the part most likely to fail and the behavior is consistent with it failing.

I'll update after its fixed.

Thanks.

Does you oven a "Cleaning" or Self Cleaning" mode?

Cleaning mode is generally a mode that heats everything up and cooks the crust/leftovers inside the oven and then shuts itself off automatically.

Make sure the "Self Cleaning" button is not pushed.

Boy, if it were in cleaning mode, 20 minutes should be plenty of time to cook just about anything. :D

Thermocoupler?

Replaced the oven igniter, 2 screws and a quick disconnect and it's fixed. :bounce:

Thanks for your input.
