Hi everyone,
I just got my '89 FJ62 back in March, so this is my first post. :)
I've learned (and fixed) a lot already thanks to you all. BIG THANK YOU! I'm finally stumped. Whenever I fill up with gas (first click, not topping off) I have a gas leak coming from the big braided hose under the right rear quarter panel. It looks like it feeds into the gas tank. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at but the FJ62 part number in this picture just calls it 77022a but that appears to be several different hoses with different price points. (to help with orientation, the top of the picture is towards the big filler hose coming from the tank inlet pipe to tank and the bottom is towards the front of the truck, gas tank on left, quarter panel on right)

This picture for the FJ60 calls it either 77100G or 77100Q. I'm not really sure which one it is, but they both apparently fit my 62, a better labeled picture but another point of confusion. Any help with ID and part number would be greatly appreciated!! Also is there an easy way to fix this at the gas tank side? I hope I don't have to drop the tank. Thanks again!! Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere...just remember I'm new here :)

I recently had to drop my tank and remember that the hose was easy to reconnect with the tank in it's final position. You should be fine without dropping the tank. You do need to remove the metal protecting plate 58279A.

I can't help with the part number identification but when I went to my local Toyota dealer, they sent me off to Napa for the hoses. I'm sure someone here is much better with part sourcing. I'm just learning that.

That hose is an odd ball size, but I recently sourced it from NAPA. Mine was in poor condition, not leaking. However, I do have a leak apparently coming from fuel pump bracket when tank is full. :(

Thanks for responding! Sorry for the double diagrams, not sure what happened there :P
I've noticed that after I drive it a while and the gas level goes down it doesn't leak nearly as much. Once I get back from vacation I will pull the hose off and take it to NAPA. I'm assuming they can size it there? I'll post the size, once I figure it out, in case anyone else has this issue. I guess the trick is to not fill these babies up because apparently it makes them miserable and they come apart at the seams. Oh and I don't think my fuel tank has the protecting plate. Is that bad? Thanks again!

I just replaced that hose yesterday with 1/2” fuel line from my local parts house, $4 or so. Two feet of hose will do the trick, there’s a barb a few inches in on the top of the tank that the hose attaches to.

I’m having a gas leak as well...the more gas I put in I notice it leaks worse and I can’t put the gas cap on or else it’ll leak a lot worse so I keep gas cap off...it’s dripping down onto the rear passenger axle near tire....looks like I’m going to have to drop the tank to find this??

It could be the charcoal canister. If they get clogged up it causes pressure to build in the tank which can force a fuel leak. Especially when full and on hot days.
