I know there's been threads on here in the past, but this seems like something that changes as paint companies come out with new products.

The garage in my Mom's house looks like crap, and I need to prep the place to sell soon. This is not a working garage, just a place to park the car. So, it doesn't need to be durable, just look decent for as little work as possible. The house was built in the 50's, so for sure the concrete is cured by now.

Minor complication: my Dad was a pack rat, and as some point in time he acquired a canister that looked to me like some sort of refrigerant. Except it had some nasty red dye in it. Eventually the canister started leaking, which we discovered as we were cleaning the place out just after he passed away. So now there's this awful crimson stain in the concrete, and it bleeds through any paint we put on it on the walls. We've power washed, scrubbed, done everything we can think of to get rid of the stain, but it persists. We finally got the walls to look OK after several coats of Kilz.

What's the latest/greatest product out there, and how much of a hassle is it?

Any ideas on how soon after new concrete is poured this can be applied? I'm pouring on friday and I'd love to just put this down before I even frame the walls because it'd be so easy to do now and I don't need to worry about any mess.

I haven’t seen a "homeowners" product yet that doesn’t lift from any (hot or cold) tire contact. I applied u coat it to my garage floor and it lifted everywhere there was contact of rubber. not totally disappointed tho. it still looks good. I would get the cheap garage floor paint and slap it down if you are going to sell anyway. It will look good just as long as anything else....after some wear and tear it all looks the same.

Jetboy let that concrete cure for at least 30 days.

Look into concrete dyes.
