Hi guys,
I have sort of acquired a beautiful Rover 109 right hand drive (belongs to a good friend and he wants me to sell it for him) that has a Vortec V6, the famous Toyota H55F Land Cruiser 5 speed. Then a Salsury rear (a Dana 60 that Rover installed OEM), ARB in the rear, compressor and button ready for the front but no actual front locker. About a 2-3" lift or so, BFG Mud Terrain 33 x 9.5 x 15" in decent shape, white spoke steel rims. Color is British Racing green and white, very sharp and recently painted with almost no rust whatsoever...

As it is, it is a great Rover... Runs / drives very well, capable of 80 mph easily.. It has some surface rust on the frame (that is not bad but could be in a few years), needs a clutch, and has mild electrical issues... So I was thinking I would sell it as-is to anyone interested, $25G as is.

Or, do a frame-off with either galvanized frame or powder coated, clean up interior items (headliner, paint dash, clean the actual interior etc), and install a Cummins 4BT into it, and a few other items... It of course would be a great biodiesel eco-expedition type vehicle as well... When it had the frame off it would have the fuel tank out so I could rig it for biodiesel / SVO conversion as well...

If I did the resto, I figure about $34G, 50% down, and it would be ready no later than Jan 1. Seeing if there is interest or comments or ideas from you guys. I am posting here and on Expedition Portal over before it maybe goes to Ebay. I do web sites for a living but work on trucks quite a bit including my own major project as we speak in a small shop I have outside of the Park City / Salt Lake City area of Utah. I have no major web projects scheduled for the next few months so I figured this would be a neat alternative for the time being... I can also provide references and links to the quality of my mechanical work if interested...

Wow, I havn't seen that thing for along time (it came to a WC BBQ ~ 4 years ago?). Great rig for sure!

That right Hand Drive would be perfect for "upscale" mail delivery in Park City

restore it and sell it to some rich fat cat up there.. I'd leave the Vortec IMO.

i had a chance some years back to buy 2 royal air force british of course military light weights. of course i could not title them BUT they were only 2 grand .and like a dumass i said NO:eek: .what the heck was i thinking.nice ride man:D

I owned a 109 for 15 years that also had a chevy engine, absolutely perfect frame, excellent paint and interior, winch etc, etc, ran and drove 100% and sold it on Ebay about one year ago for 10K (15+ bidders). Anything is possible but 34K in my opinion even with a new frame is a big stretch. IMHO.

Fair enough I appreciate your input. . I have been gathing info from the D-90.com guys too. I don't think it is too out of line personally but I am not 100% sure. A similar 6AT is going for $25G on LRX.com as well. It is a very nice rig as well.

Whatever you do with it, don't sell or get rid of that Safari Roof!! Thats a darn good roof, rare and quite pricy bit to have on a 109!!!!! Cheers!

rover

see my reply on d-90.com. Unfortunately the market is not strong enough to support that kind of pricing. Otherwise Id sell my s*** and retire at 26.
