Add it up and he probably has $23,000 in it if he paid someone to do it. Let’s say 7,000 truck + 2,000 arb and winch + 3,000 slee rear + 2,000 lift + 1,000 sliders + 1,000 leather + 500 dorkel + 1,000 rack + 3,000 maintenance = low 20’s
That starts to make sense I guess..... in my experience all that stuff only brings a fraction of the purchase/install price when selling on the pre-owned market...

Not silly at all, assuming its rust-free. White is a great color for Cruiser wagons, the maintenance costs thousands and many people in the market for an 80 want one with lift and bumpers which is several thousand more. "Silly" isn't what you say it is, or what I say it is, its what the market will bear, and the market is bearing that price.

A stock locked collector even with those miles is worth more than $7k.
Price is not crazy, maybe a tad high but in the ballpark.

Can't get back 20k in mods, ever.

I don't think a lot of guys realize that. You can't count mods as full MSRP or even the price you paid. The cruiser world has morphed into this weird "take a 3k cruiser, add 2k of mods, have 250k miles on it, and ask 10k firm" mentality.

Personally I dislike a lot of the offroad mods. The bumpers and lift are okay but the snorkel is ugly and useless for me. But the thing is who in their right mind is going to pay 20k+ for a nice rig and then seriously off road it? That's the puzzling thing to me, pretty sure you can't have a solid 80 with nice paint and then go deep river crossing. Maybe it's just me.

Snorkel is not only to prevent water getting into your air filter and hydrolock. It also keeps the intake temp lower with less dust. 20k is not expensive for off roading, a Jeep wrangler is easily 45k plus and they are all over the trails

This one was for sale a few times, I'm thinking mid to high 20's for this it. Can't get back $20k in mods, ever.

1997 Toyota Land Cruiser 40th Anniversary | eBay

Well sometimes you can get $20K in mods back but I guess it depends on what you paid for the truck. The 80 LC mentioned in the eBay link you referenced sold last Nov for likely for 33K, it was titled and licensed in OK and now is in TX. The new owner says he has a baby on the way and has decided to sell after only a few months. 80's with the right miles, condition and accessories can bring larger sums. I think over 200K miles on a non-restored 80 won't normally bring in $20K+ no matter the accessories. But lower miles (under 200K miles), excellent condition, lockers, 40th and maybe the right accessories can bring in $20K+, $30K+ even $40K+. Of course has to have the right combination of good qualities to get the bigger dollars. A super clean stock locked 97 with 70K miles in black sold recently on here. He was asking $45K and said he accepted a very reasonable offer. My guess $40K.
