Hey Dudes,

So I just finished reading bunch of exhaust threads for the 80 series and have a few questions for us local guys specific to layout, shops and smog.

My goal is to reroute/replace the stock exhaust to move one of the cats so it will be easier to mount sliders. I also want the exhaust to be over the frame so it won't get smashed up on rocks.

My questions are has anybody relocated their exhaust/cats and had issues with smog? Does anybody recommend a specific shop here in so cal? Has anybody just ran a single aftermarket cat instead of two cats?

I am hoping to copy an existing "approved" exhaust layout so I don't get in trouble with the smog police.

Hmm, I’ll be in the same boat sometime within the next 2 years if I don’t have my muffler involuntarily removed beforehand.

Go see Ed Hanson in Spring Valley Muffler shop | Spring Valley, CA | Ed Hanson's Muffler Service he is the best exhaust guy I have ever used. He did mine from cats back over the frame and I am extremely happy with the work. This was after 2 different exhaustr shops could not get it right.

Hi Dan, I saw your previous post and spring valley is not far from me at all. But it looks like you left at least one of the cats in the original position? Its hard to tell, but in the pics I can see the "Cat Skid Plate". Thats the one I want to re-reoute if possible. Have you had any issues with smog at all? I wouldn't think you would since its a cat back replacement.

I have not had any issues with smog since the cats were left in the stock location. I rely on the Hanna slider skid plate to protect the cats and it has worked flawlessly.

Anyplace to get these in the us?
I too am after a 105 down pipe. I'm removing my rockers to make "sliders/rockers" and need to move 1st cat inside rail. I already have the pipe above rail, but do to wheeling and NE salt my rockers must go! If 105 fits and positions pipe on inside of rail I need it.

Thanks
