I was driving on a couple of trails which had some mud and on my way home the A/T fluid light, Emergency Brake light, Voltage light and Oil light came on at the same time. I made one stop on the way home...it started up just fine then came home. I noticed though that on the way home the voltage meter fell some and the ABS light came on and the radio turned off. I then tried to start it after I got home and it would not start. Took the battery in and it failed all tests. So I purchased a new battery and installed it. Once I installed it the same lights came on A/T, oil, brake and voltage. I took it out on the road and within about a half an hour all of the lights came on, except check engine and the radio turned off. I then struggled getting home...if I hit the brakes or hit the turn signal the engine would studder.

So I am thinking that it is either the alternator or some fusible link. Has anyone ever had this happened before? I am going to pull the alternator and have it checked. Does it make sense that the reason those lights are on is to conserve energy??

So I pulled the alternator and had it tested at Checker and it tested out perfectly. So I replaced it and then tried the fusible link and it is bad. So I called Toyota and they said that it would take at least 3-4 weeks to get another one.

So I called and Auto Electric Store and they made up another fusible link for me and guess what....It still does not work. The warning lights are still on and I am growing more and more frusrated. All the connections look good. Arghhhhh

Fuselink, 90982-08264, I have one in stock.........

Your post is a bit confusing, did you "replace" the alternator or did you re-install the original?

Starter clicking on you at all when you start her up??? Could be starter is seizing and grabbing (?) the alternator and frying both, draining the battery in the process. Happened to me. I had lights going off all over the dash b4 it died completely and had to be towed.

If not, listen to Cdan the man! I am not worthy by comparison. LOL!

I did put the old alternator back because it passed the checker?? testing.

For the past few months I have noticed that the starter has clicked a whole lot. It will finally start but I have to keep on turning the key to finally get it to click over. I bet that it is somehow fried and I need to replace it. But why would my fuselink be bad too......

thanks in advance

Oh god. Do some searching on starter threads ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Replace/repair your starter ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Parts from the man Cdan. There are a number of posts, etc. on this repair. Your starter is about to go and if you wait you will fry your alternator as well and have to repair/replace both!

Did I fail to mention to repair/replace your starter ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As I recall, someone on this board said I was a 'major fool' for letting that happen, when what I was doing was attempting to get someone to learn from a mistake I made. hehehe I knew my starter was going from a previous failure and waited too long resulting in the fried alternator as well as the starter.

Replace/repair your starter ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it be preferred for a prudent person to purchase one of these puppies for their spare parts pile? Is there perchance a prudent purchaser price?

Peace.

Prudes can buy all they like....:D

They list for $10.72 and a smart shopper would pay around $8.04
