i like!! too bad it isn't diesel...
;^(
tried a translate program but too many blocks

I could easily overlook the fact its not diesel.
The FZJ FTE 4500 24 valve would really fly in the 74 soft top body:D
Probably exceed the 100 mph barrier:cool:

agreed, but i am thinking that a turbo diesel would make for a very unique unit.
sweet unit either way though.

Neat! What's up with the five lug rims?

Toyota have been fitting these to the 78/79 series for 3-4years now .They say its to stop owners from using the old 75 series 6 lug rims which wont go to full lock without fouling.
Something to do with coil sprung front

I think the 78/79 have a 50mm wider body but the red 74 doesnt look wide bodied or coil sprung.

looks like a Venz spec 74.

almost looks like russian text.

I'm guessing the seller could be a Landcruiser re-importer. Both the troopie in the background and the FZJ74 are LHD. The soft top 73/74 is not a Japanese model, neither is the troopie.

The asking price is 3,280,000 Yen or AU$41,100.

Wouldn't you rather have a red Vette, Ross? :)

ITS A GASSER!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

TB

mmm close call but the pygmy troopy wins :D

I think it maybe Taiwanese and the site hasnt been up dated since March 2003 so it probably sold : (

You guys, this is not in Russian and not in Taiwanese, but in Japanese. ;)

Less than 20k miles and you can choose between the ARB and the OEM (black) bumpers.

He claims it's capable of pegging the 200km/hr (125+mph) speedo. :D

When did Toyota Australia stopped selling the MWB and the SWB, Ross?

Dave

swb

Last year I rented a short wheelbased HZJ70series in Costa Rica. It was a 2003 "Hardtop". Coil front, leaf rear, e-lockers. I wish I could have brought it home.

Good question and Im not sure but Ive only ever seen one aussie spec 1991 HZJ 70 offered for sale.
I got the aussie 70series introduction Toyota video from ebay:D and it shows the new 1HZ/1PZJ range being offered in the MWB SWB and the new generation Bundeera swb and 4 dr hard top mwb 73 (crushers take note).
My guess is no mwb swb were sold after 90-91

I read somewhere that they didnt sell too well because of the flood of competition in that class especially from the Nissan Patrol SWB,which on paper is an equal to the cruiser, but were $3-4K cheaper.
In the long run none of them were as good as the cruiser and it really shows in the resale prices, but on the showroom floor everything is new and shiny.Rust chewed out most of the patrols.

The vidoe also has old black and white film from the 50s with the 1st FJ25 in oz and follows the range up till the 80 series.

the 70 series was intorduced in 1985(Nov 84 actaully) and at that time there was NO 1HZ or 1PZ offered in OZ or anyplace else. it was a 3B or a 3F. the 2H was offered in the 60 series and 75 truck.

AFAIK there is no such thing as a 4 door MWB 70 series, there is the 77 series but its a long wheelbase, at least its longer than a 73-4.

ah.........I see how/why your info is wrong(or doesn't jibe with mine), you say the video has the 80 series in it......which means its at least made in 1990

Yep Pimp 1989-1990 onwards Im referring to.(I meant to make it clearer but forgot:o)
Im not sure what that thing in my video with 4drs is( they called it a mwb bundeera )but Ive never heard of a 77 in oz although that did cross my mind.
I really looks more like a Surf thingy to me.
I give my video player away through lack of use and have to beg to borrow it back  to watch my cruiser video so I only got to watch it once

Anyway there is precious few 1HZ,1PZ powered swb and mwb although I did get offered a 1PZ motor for $1500 recently at a closing down sale at a cruiser wrecker.
