Which exhaust did you end up going with?no, im waiting to either win the lottery or the old one to fall off before i do it.
Would you happen to have a part number for muffler?HAPPY to post that my exhaust whistling is no longer present. This morning I had the Walker brand factory fit replacement muffler installed. It fits perfectly. Muffler cost $114 from Summit and install cost $68.
There has been a lot of speculation on Mud about what is causing some 80’s to whistle from the tail pipe while some don’t. Mine began whistling at about 271k miles. Muffler replacement was the fix in my case.
It’s been a while since I put it on so I don’t have a part number but it’s still working well despite the fact it’s all beat up from rocks and big log crossings.Would you happen to have a part number for muffler?
Here is the link of what I was contemplating. I'm not too concerned with corrosion since I'm in central CA that is pretty dry.Yeah. The previous owner put a flowmaster on mine and I’m contemplating making a change. It still has original cats being in the People’s Republic of California. It sounds ok from the outside but like the previous poster stated it’s pretty loud on the inside for music and conversations. I don’t need the rumble or fart box noise. It’s a dog straight six, just let it so it’s job. My choices since the Walker is discontinued is a factory muffler for $600 plus or working on some sound deadening on the interior, doors and quarter panels (which I was planning anyways) and a YouTube video of some Canadian wrapping the muffler on his Chevy in some thermal exhaust wrap. I might try a wrap from the manifold all the way back, well as much and I can reach. Any thoughts?
There are quiet mufflers out there on the market but they are not a bolt in solution. Walker makes a muffler called Quiet flow which I think I’ll use on the new exhaust system of my current 80 series build.Yeah. I emailed with Walker yesterday and they stated the Walker Quiet-Flow Muffler 54223 is unfortunately obsolete with no replacement available for this vehicle, we apologize for any inconvenience. There are quiet mufflers out there on the market but they are not a bolt in solution. Like I said, you might have to depart from a fully oem style exhaust system.I emailed with Walker yesterday and they stated the Walker Quiet-Flow Muffler 54223 is unfortunately obsolete with no replacement available for this vehicle, we apologize for any inconvenience.
