How obnoxious was it? If I could find a muffler that size, it would be absolutely perfect.

I loved it. It was a quite, aggressive growl. It never droned or was annoying, but sounded very mean bouncing off the rev limiter.

I use the Solo Performance STL33 mufflers in our exhaust kits and they sound great. They're fairly quiet at idle and just have a bit of rumble when you get on them.

HAPPY to post that my exhaust whistling is no longer present. This morning I had the Walker brand factory fit replacement muffler installed. It fits perfectly. Muffler cost $114 from Summit and install cost $68.

There has been a lot of speculation on Mud about what is causing some 80’s to whistle from the tail pipe while some don’t. Mine began whistling at about 271k miles. Muffler replacement was the fix in my case.

I once had a straightpiped non turbo 7.3 idi. Those daysil Luke aldean types don't understand what rolling coal really is.

Are these OEM replacements or you guys are doing cat back with bigger pipe.

I did OEM downpipes, Y-pipe and tailpipe with resonator. The cats and muffler were too rich for my blood so I went aftermarket stainless on the cats and with the Walker muffler I listed earlier. I wanna say the whole jalopy with new hangers and gaskets was around $1400.

Cats are near identical. The rotation is better but the Y-pipe and cat is one piece.

Darn, I was hoping it would be much smaller.

Thanks ! I'll send along to my local mechs (need to replace my cat back ) rig is at Mudrak Northern Cal. but I'm afraid it'll get the Cali emissions thumbs down. Beautiful work !
