So, I have an FZJ-105 and am looking to see if anybody can tell me what the differences are between the rear frame area with the SFA and IFS trucks? Specifically if I was to add a rear bumper. I don't have an IFS truck handy to do a direct comparison.

Obviously the front is very different between the two, but the rear end looks pretty much the same. What say ye?

I was under the impression that the 105 is basically an 80 series frame?

It pretty much is, and the ass end of the 100 series and the ass end of the 105/80 is very similar if not the same. Almost all of the rear suspension components are the same and the measurements of the frame look the same.

Where I am curious, is that the companies I have looked at have different models for rear bumpers for the 100 and 105 series, but looking at the frame measurements, the it looks the same and a 100 series rear bumper SHOULD be able to be bolted on to the 105. Or, at a minimum, I can get something like the 4x4Labs kit and assemble/weld it to accommodate any minor differences the 105 frame may have.

But, there has to be a difference somewhere to have different rear bumpers for the IFS and SFA models. I am thinking maybe mounting points and capture nut placement may be different.

Luckily my neighbor just bought a 2000 LX yesterday, so I may be able to compare.

I've been trying to figure out how similar the front dimensions of a 105 and an 80 series are because I have an 80 series factory winch I want to put on a 105. Surprisingly difficult to figure this out. But I finally found a comprehensive document on 100 and 105 frames, which I post here. I could not quite figure out how to post in the resources section, but if someone knows how to do that...

This is the only source I've found for dimensions of the distance between frame rails, which is what I was looking for with the winch:

I still can't find the frame-rail to frame-rail distance on 80 series frames but I can just measure that off my daily driver. Nevertheless I thought I would post here.

Hey John,

My 105 has the factory winch mounts and bumper, but the winch was removed at some point. The mounts look different than the diagram above. I have also wondered about mounting an 80 winch, so want tp figure out the same thing as you. I can try and snap some photos and/or get some measurements this weekend.

Edit: My take away before was that rhe factory winch 105s might actually have a different frame. I think there is another different frame part number between the two options.

That would be stellar, EK.

Please also if you don't mind, measure the box dimensions of the factory 105 winch mount points. And snap a bunch of photos of all the winch mount components. Tomorrow I am going to dig out my 80 winch and its frame mount components and we can compare.

I'd be very, very interested in the details of your 105 winch. But tell me, why did you remove it? As far as I can tell Toyota used the same Aisin winch throughout the 80 and 100 eras.

Ok, can do, but might not be until Sunday. I want to get an OEM setup back in mine if I can figure out a way, and I see JDM 80 setups sometimes here for sale so I am considering exactly the same thing.

I didn’t remove it. It came missing. Probably some Albanian shenanigans post UNDP ownership and pre sale to me.

Here is a screenshot from partsouq suggesting different frame part numbers for factory winch and factory rear swing out.

Well, I either have a 70 Series winch or the 80 does not -quite- fit.

Yesterday I went and fetched the winch I had in storage, along with a bunch of other stuff. (That's a complete HVAC setup wrapped in plastic for a 70 that I will be refurbishing for my flatbed, Iota.)

I got it over to the 105 and tried the brackets. The are the right size but they will require modification to avoid the protrusions from the 105 frame.
(I think I actually have the bracket on the wrong opposite side frame rail but I was just checking fit.)

The distance between the holes in the top of the frame rail on the 105 is 71cm, and you can see the protrusion from the upper side of the frame that would prevent use of unmodified 80 (70?) bracketry.

The distance across the winch itself for the mounting holes is 72 cm.

But now that I look at the brackets again, maybe the spacing is right when you bolt the winch to the brackets. I was dead tired when I was taking these photos and easily could have not seen something obvious.

At least I can contribute dimensions of the box ends of a 105 frame:

This is a bad picture but it looked like 55mm to me in person.

Here are another couple of photos showing the brackets fitting on the frame rail:

And another showing the top of the protrusion out of the top of the 105 frame rail.

I look at these photos and I am not sure I learned very much. I am going to let Seb Sports have a look and see if it is practical to modify this winch mount for the 105, even if only as a starting point.

Well today in Sharjah I found what might have been mounting hardware for a 105:

I'm pretty sure this is off of a regular 100, but boy was that mounting hardware beefy!

Can I know not only fist photo of dimension measurement of side beam but also cross member dimension measurement
