When I first went to a Pull-A-Part, I was really freaked out, because I didn't realize they had the stacked wheels welded. I thought they just had one rim sitting on top of another as a 'jack stand'.

Good to know.

That makes me feel better b/c today while we were there, just thinking about getting under one of those cars made me nervous.

ok totally didnt see the welded wheels.... that would make me feel a little safer.

All of Jon's points seem to be right on above and i believe it is the same color as yours AL. Some interior panels were clean from the back but its been open to the elements for some time now. Shift nob was there and console but extremely dirty. Pass. fender was dented up pretty good and the truck has been repainted gold over gold at some point.

Well if I don't post up here on sunday night with what I got off the truck.... call the yard and tell them i'll be the flat one under the land cruiser

Take your own jack stands with you if you don't feel safe....

 R

They're pretty safe. As a rule, before I crawl under any rig, in a driveway, junkyard, or anywhere, I give it a good hard push or kick. None of the rigs at Pull-A-Part have ever budged at all. I'd still give one a good shove before crawling under it, but their welded steelies make some pretty stout jackstands.

Heading out now.... Logan i'll let you know what it still has... I know you are interested in the tranny.

That's weird. I was just there about 2 weeks ago and I didn't see the 80. I found an intercooler off of a volvo for $20 though. :)

That poor thing was beat up.
So I got
A fuse box cover (inside the cab) still won't stay in place just like the old one
The coolant overflow tank that I was missing :D
The panel that locks in the rear area (didn't even know there was supposed to be one there till I looked inside clint's) :D
A/C condensor :D
A/C dryer :D
(still need all the other A/C stuff)
All the dash switches that were left :D
Electric fan out of a taurus to sit next to mine (won't fit)
Water control valve :D

Couldn't get the damn diff cover off due to how stuck on there it was and the fact that the rear was sitting so much lower than the front.
I couldn't get the rear drums off for the same reason so the rear shafts are still up there

The truck had 162k on it if anyone needs a tranny or t-case

Brian was looking for a taurus fan (and shroud). Maybe pm him to see if he's interested, and bring up here on Sunday or take to GSMTR...

Yeah no shroud, but I can bring it. It is only one of the fans but I think it would fit ok on Brian's truck. Does anyone know what the air flow is on these? I might just ditch the one I have and grab both next time with the shroud to put on mine.

Jon there was a few mini trucks out there with the boxes intact.
There was actually two solid axle trucks an 85 and 81 (I believe)
that still had the front axles, engines, trannys, and t-cases in them . I couldn't believe that one. I was trying to convince my brother in law that he needed that front axle to put under his 92 4x4 mini that just sits in his driveway. (one day i'll convince him to give it to me :grinpimp:)

Brian talk to me about this setup when you get a chance, mine on my 73 mounted very cleanly and took maybe 5-10 minutes to get setup for mounting onto the radiator.

Thanks guys, I've been so busy with the logistics of the 80, the 40 has been neglected... :crybaby:

I'll take anyone's parts for the taurus fan swap if you don't need them. I know I'll need some additional relays to wire it up (and a shroud), but we'll chat at GSMTR since I won't be at Clint's on Sunday (unless you guys run late and I get home from beach at a decent time)

Do you know if they were 4x4? I think they have to be for the swap to work.

When J and I were there, there were two older minis but both were not solid fronts. One was lowrider green...not sure about the other color.

Their site only lists two minis - 86 on row 100 and 85 on row 119 (that was the green one). Remember which row it was on?

They hadn't been put out in the main lot yet. I saw the two you are talking about but the ones i'm talking about were solid axle 4x4 trucks.

you'll have to excuse my ms paint skills but where the red dot is is where they were.
There aren't any row numbers over there and the bad part is they are all sitting on the ground because they haven't been put out in the yard on the wheels yet. You can still pull things off of it though because there were about 10 others pulling things off of them.
one was an 81 and one an 85. everything is there except the wheels.

Picked up one steering box, 2 resovoirs, 2 pumps and a set on hubs. Would've gotten the birfs but the truck was sitting in the rotors so no way to get them off...

Pretty productive morning :bounce:.

Also saw the most gorgeous fj45 that is in existence .

Glad you found them..... I'm debating going back out sometime to pull the steering box off of that 80 and take another shot at the rear shafts.
Problem with those is the way the 80 was sitting I couldn't get any leverage or position to pry the rear drums off or the rear diff cover that was stuck solid on there.
And they don't let you use your own jacks or stands in there

I'm guessing the 45 wasn't in the lot

I was going to try and get an electric fan from a Tarus but didn't see one of the 3.8 liter cars with one left...but did see one on a flat bed when I left.

Might take a trip back there in the near future to get the birfs and try to find a fan.

Pick up an extra shroud for me while you're there!

I am not sure if I got a different tarus fan but my unit was all one, shroud and fan where all connected, if the wiring for the fan was in place with rivot.
