It's fine there's nothing to hide. I had Ernie look Into the taxes his final year as treasurer after we became inc. I don't recall the exact reason but there was something with the amount of funds raised didn't qualify to have to file. Ernie could chime in or I could pull his email to me and post it up. I have saved every email and message on mud during my term. I thought it was best to combine the treasurer role and membership role. It made sense to me at the time and whoever comes into the BOD is free with the club's consent to change it up. After serving for 3 years I have to say the whole entire bylaws-term limits/periods and membership process needs to be changed. Having to fill so many different positions over the years there's a lot of things that could be revamped to make it better and smoother. These are all great things to converse about at the meeting.

Bob and the BOD, Would someone mind posting up what the bylaw voting requirements are for candidates running for office? I recall this being discussed/debated in years past and have a vague recollection of votes being required when there are two or more people running for the same position, but no votes being required if someone runs unopposed. Thanks

"Club officers are elected by voting in person at the first Quarterly Meeting or by email vote. Email votes must be received not later than 6pm on day prior to Meeting. Conditions and methods for a mail (email) vote will be established by the Board of Directors. In the event of a vacancy in any office except the President, the Board of Directors shall appoint a member in good standing to fill the un-expired term until the next general election. "

The above is pulled directly from the bylaws.

IMO we need to hire a professional in regards to following the tax code and regulations for being Incorporated. It's not about friends or family giving us wrong information but getting the club the protection that the professional provides.

And it seems odd to me that Ernie was told that we didn't need to file a tax return. If that is the case then there should be some documentation that we didn't need to file from some authority. I can't believe that we could just arbitrarily determine that on our own.

Let's not go throwing anyone under any buses.

The club continues to grow and it's a learning experience as it advances. Not everything gets done perfectly but we do our best with what we have.
I agree that maybe it's become time when the club needs to spend money on covering itself better.
I'm onboard with officer's insurance and tax prep.
The club has increased its assets well over this past year and I believe that these additional costs are worthwhile and feasible and there are certain areas where the club can trim the fat to make up any budget expenditures.

There are financial thresholds which determine wether or not you have to file. I could be wrong but I believe our club to be an unincorporated organization which would be not for profit. Or we could automatically be exempt due to our average profit earning.

I nominate Rick for President.

I would think the NEA has researched the insurance aspect already, should be able to tap that wealth of knowledge, No?

Depending on the snow I may not make it as I will have to plow. If that's the case, lane ill get your parts to Will. And mr. Secretary, take lots of notes

If that's the case I would rather reschedule the meeting.
It's imperative that all BOD and interested parties are at this meeting.

We may want to reschedule then. As of now it looks like plowable snow on Sunday. I work during and after storms. Sorry dudes...

I would like to wait a day.
The timing of the storm is still spotty.
I understand our weekends are valuable and will do my best to call it early.

Looks like if we were to reschedule the meeting I'm not really available till the second weekend in March.. Yikes.

Looks like a bunch of hype from the media.
Would like to keep this on track.

This is an open meeting for anyone interested in a leadership position within the club now or in the future.
