In trying to track down my wildly jumping ammeter problem, I was looking through the wiring to see if I could find any obviously shorted sections.

I noticed the thick white wire coming off the + battery cable (fusible link) had what looked like browning on some sections.

But I'm curious, does this wire act as the fusible link itself (between the battery and the ammeter right?) or is there supposed to be some sort of inline fuse deal wired in there? Because I don't have anything there.....

Thanks!

there should be the link between the battery and the main wiring harness. Its a normal looking wire of reasonable thickness about 10cm long connected to the main harness with a plastic plug. In your case its the burnt bit. If its not completely toasted, it should still be working.

I think that a fusable link is a wire, which itself acts as a fuse.

Yes that's the fusible link. My gauge was jumping around a bit to for a while not sure what it was. I'm still trying to learn this electronics stuff. I'm looking in to a volt reading opposed to the Amp type. I hate wiring.

No.. a fusible link is a "tail".. as s79 stated.. very short. I've yet to see a link or a mains fuse in any of the OEM wiring schematics.

Sounds like time to break out the multimeter.
